Lorelle Meets the Obsolete with special guests: Aidan Baker and Data Animal - Live in Berlin

Originally from Guadalajara and now based in Ensenada, Baja California, Lorelle Meets The Obsolete formed in 2011 around the core duo of Lorena Quintanilla and Alberto González. They quickly caught the attention of the psych scene with their first two albums, On Welfare and Corruptible Faces.
Since signing with UK label Sonic Cathedral in 2013, the band has toured extensively across Mexico, the UK, Europe, and the US. Over the past decade, their sound has gradually evolved from its psychedelic roots toward a more exploratory direction, incorporating analog synths and sonic search reminiscent of bands like Wire. This progression is evident across albums such as Chambers, Balance, De Facto, and Datura. Along the way, they’ve collaborated with artists like Emma Anderson (Lush), Dälek, and Pye Corner Audio, and have earned fans in the likes of Henry Rollins and Iggy Pop.

Aidan Baker & Data Animal

Canadian musician and composer Aidan Baker takes the stage at Neue Zukunft for a solo set.

Currently based in Berlin, Aidan Baker (known for NADJA, Hypnodrone Ensemble, Tavare etc) explores the deconstructive possibilities of the electric guitar. Classically trained but highly experimental, Baker creates music within the ambient genre, drawing on influences from post-rock, shoegaze, electronica, jazz, and contemporary classical. Using prepared instruments and analog effects, his performance relies on live-looping, where melancholic ambient textures transition into dense, noisy industrial drones.

Data Animal

Founded between Germany and New Zealand, Data Animal is a prominent fixture on the underground label Dedstrange. Their music acts as a visceral sonic weapon, blending NYC no-wave, British post-punk, and Detroit techno into a signature "data punk" sound. Utilizing lo-fi drum machines, broken guitars, and ghost synthesisers, the band channels a raw, mutated energy tailored for strobe-lit underground spaces.

Back in 2009, we released the collaborative album PYRAMIDS WITH NADja on CD with Hydrahead Records. & while there was talk of a vinyl edition of the album, it sadly never happened...but now we have partnered up with Diggers Factory to get this released on vinyl finally & the pre-order is now live.

This will be a strictly limited 2LP set in a gatefold sleeve using Faith Coloccia's orginal photos & paintings with music across the first three sides & an etching on the D-side.

Please be aware that this is a *campaign* &, as such, needs to reach a minimum pre-order threshold to proceed with production.
