🇷🇺 ЧУКОТСКОЕ ЕЗДОВОЕ СОБАКОВОДСТВО 🐕 🛷

Друзья, две недели назад мы завершили нашу экспедицию на Мыс Дежнева на собачьих упряжках. Мы дошли до крайней восточной точки Евразии - сурового мыса, откуда, среди подвижных льдов Берингового моря, невооруженным взглядом видна земля ещё нашего острова Ратманова и крайней оконечности уже американской Аляски.

Эта экспедиция стала возможна благодаря чукотским каюрам из Лорино, которые по сей день поддерживают традицию ездового собаководства на Чукотке. Каюры из Лорино, Инчоуна и Янракыннота являются одними из последних продолжателей этой традиции на Чукотке и участвуют в ежегодных гонках Надежда и Беренгия на традиционных нартах, в отличие от участников из других регионов и стран.

Наша миссия - не просто тренировать собак перед главными стартами сезона, но поддерживать и развивать собаководство на Чукотке. Мы будем мотивировать и продвигать традиционное собаководство у чукчей.

На днях завершился шестой этап гонки Надежда, который выиграл Саша Долгодушев из Лорино 💪 Мы с Саней шли на Дежнева в одной упряжке.

🇷🇺CHUKCHI SLEDGE-DOG BREEDING 🐕 🛷

Dear friends, two weeks ago we completed our expedition to Cape Dezhnev on dog sleds. We reached the easternmost point of Eurasia - a harsh cape, from where, among the moving ice of the Bering Sea, the land of our Ratmanov Island and the extreme tip of the American Alaska is visible with the naked eye.

This expedition became possible thanks to the Chukchi mushers from Lorino, who maintain the tradition of sled dog breeding in Chukotka up to now. Mushers from Lorino, Inchoun and Yanrakynnot are among the last followers of this tradition in Chukotka. They participate in the annual Hope and Berengia races on traditional sledges, unlike participants from other regions and countries.

Our mission is not just to train dogs before the main starts of the season, but to support and develop dog breeding in Chukotka. We will motivate and promote traditional dog breeding among the Chukchi.

Some days ago the sixth stage of the Hope race ended, which was won by Sasha Dolgodushev from Lorino 💪 Sanya and I went to Dezhnev in the same team.

🇷🇺ЧУКОТКА: ДВЕ ЭКСПЕДИЦИИ 🐳

Завершились две наши экспедиции на Чукотку, на самый восток страны, в мировую столицу китобоев - Лорино.
Буквально несколько дней назад путешественники из второй экспедиции достигли крайней восточной точки Евразии - мыса Дежнёва, и некоторые из них еще добираются домой. А нам уже не терпится подвести итоги😅

Не всё гладко было с погодой. Северное лето в этом году показывает экстремально низкие температуры и штормовые ветра, из-за чего приходилось оперативно менять программу в ожидании лётной погоды.
И всё же обе команды смогли окунуться в уникальную жизнь чукчей морских зверобоев, наблюдали китобойный промысел и узнали, какова жизнь там - на Краю Земли.

❗️Наши экспедиции никак не провоцируют и не поощряют охоту на китов. Китобойный промысел ведётся в соотвествии с официальными мировыми квотами, традиционным способом. Мы являемся лишь наблюдателями традиционной жизни и многовековой культуры чукчей-морзверобоев!

Two our Chukotka expeditions to the very east of the country, to the world capital of whalers - Lorino, have just been completed.
Few days ago, the travelers from the second expedition reached the extreme eastern point of Eurasia - Cape Dezhnev, and some of them are still on the way home. But we can't wait to summarize 😅

Not everything was smooth with the weather. The northern summer this year shows extremely low temperatures and stormy winds, which made us to change the program in anticipation of flight weather.
And yet both teams had an immersion into the unique life of the Chukchi sea hunters, watched whaling and learned true life there - on the World’s Edge.

❗️Our expeditions do not provoke or encourage whale hunting in any way. Whaling is carried out in traditional way, according to official World Whaling committee quotas. We are only observers of the traditional lifestyle and old culture of the Chukchi sea mammals hunters!

🇷🇺ТРАДИЦИИ ЧУКЧЕЙ: БЫТ И ПИЩА🦌🥩

Чукчи - коренной народ, населяющий полуостров Чукотка, берега Чукотского и Берингова морей, а так же берега Северного Ледовитого океана в России. Они говорят на чукотском языке.

Чукчи традиционно делились на приморских чукчей, которые строили свои дома на побережье и жили охотой на морских млекопитающих, и чукчей-оленеводов, которые кочевали по тундре вдалеке от моря, мигрируя со своими стадами оленей.
Русское название «чукчи» происходит от чукотского слова «Чаучу» («богаты оленями»), которое так же использовали чукчи-оленеводы, чтобы отличить себя от приморских чукчей, называемых «Анкаллыт» («люди моря»).

Пища коренных чукчей-оленеводов могла показаться отталкивающей неподготовленным людям. Они ели мороженое мясо, нерпичий жир, кашу из щавеля, коренья, внутренности животных, пили их кровь. А в числе самых популярных блюд у этого народа были ферментированное мясо (копальхен) и горячая похлебка с монялом — полупереварившимся мхом, извлеченным из желудка оленя.

🇷🇺TRADITIONS OF THE CHUKCHI: LIFE AND FOOD🦌🥩

The Chukchi are an indigenous people inhabiting the Chukotka Peninsula and the shores of the Chukchi Sea and the Bering Sea region of the Arctic Ocean within Russia. They speak the Chukchi language.

Chukchi are traditionally divided into the Maritime Chukchi, who had settled homes on the coast and lived primarily from sea mammal hunting, and the Reindeer Chukchi, who lived as nomads in the inland tundra region, migrating seasonally with their herds of reindeer. The Russian name "Chukchi" is derived from the Chukchi word Chauchu ("rich in reindeer"), which was used by the Reindeer Chukchi to distinguish themselves from the Maritime Chukchi, called Anqallyt ("the sea people").

The food of the indigenous Chukchi reindeer herders of Chukotka could seem repulsive to unprepared people. They ate frozen meat, seal fat, sorrel porridge, roots, animal entrails, and drank their blood. And among the most popular meals were fermented meat (kopalhen) and hot stew with monyal - half-digested moss extracted from the stomach of a deer.

🇷🇺 We'll go to the Russian North to the Chukchi during our expedition to the Kanchalan tundra from 11 to 18 April 2022! The expedition is led by a professional ethnologist.

🇷🇺 ЖИЛИЩА НАРОДОВ СЕВЕРА: ЧУМ, БАЛОК и ЯРАНГА ❄️

Для любителей этники может это и повседневные понятия. Но мы решили освежить нашу память 🙃 Итак! ЧУМ, БАЛОК И ЯРАНГА. Нет, это не заклинание, а виды традиционных жилищ северных народов.

❄️ Чум - традиционное жилище ненцев. Чум укрывается двумя пологами, сшитыми из 30-40 оленьих шкур каждый. Как и в одежде, верхний слой мехом наружу, а внутренний - ворсом вовнутрь.

❄️ Чукчи живут в ярангах. Эти большие разборные жилища достаточно холодные, дымоход здесь устроен «по-чёрному», через входную дверь. Зато спальный полог меховой, отапливаемый свечой или керосинкой изнутри, благодаря чему чукчи спят зимой без верхней одежды.

❄️ Оленеводы-долганы изобрели новое жилище - балок, дом на полозьях, также обшитый оленьими шкурами. Это новация помогает долганам кочевать в экстремально высоких температурах крайнего севера, не разбирая жилище!

Наши экспедиции предполагают полное погружение в быт и культуру северных народов, поэтому мы ночуем в их традиционных жилищах🤩

🇷🇺 CHUM, BALOK & YARANGA — TRADITIONAL DWELLINGS OF THE NORTH ❄️

If you are an ethnic-lover the meanings of these words are as easy as alphabet. Anyway, let’s do a brief recap. SO! СHUM, BALOK & YARANGA!

❄️ Сhum – is the traditional dwelling of the Nenets people. There are two covers, sewn from 30-40 reindeer skins each. The same as in case of clothing, the top cover is fur-out, and the inside one is fur-inside.

❄️ The Chukchi live in yarangas - large collapsible dwellings made of poles and reindeer skins. This is a rather cold dwelling, the chimney is arranged through the front door. However, the sleeping canopy is made of two layers of fur, heated by a candle or a kerosene stove which makes the Chukchi sleep in winter without outer clothing.

Чукчи – коренной народ, населяющий полуостров Чукотка, берега Чукотского и Берингова морей, а так же берега Северного Ледовитого океана в России. Они говорят на чукотском языке. Чукчи пришли с берегов Охотского моря. Согласно самым последним исследованиям генома человека, чукчи являются ближайшими родственниками первых американцев в Азии.

Русское название «чукчи» происходит от чукотского слова «чаучу» («богаты оленями»), которое так же использовали чукчи-оленеводы, чтобы отличить себя от приморских чукчей, называемых «Анкаллыт» («люди моря»).

Инуиты (эскимосы, юпик) представляют собой группу схожих по культуре коренных народов, живущих в арктических регионах – Гренландии, Канаде, Чукотке и Аляске. Язык инуитов относят к эскимосско-алеутской группе языков.

Инуиты являются потомками тех, кого антропологи относят к культуре Туле, которая вышла из западной Аляски около 1000 г. н.э. Они откололись от группы алеутов около 4000 лет назад, а от северо-восточных мигрантов из Сибири (вероятно, имеющих сходный с чукчами язык) еще раньше, и, считаются потомками третьей большой миграции из Сибири. 🇷🇺TO THE CHUKCHI AND INUTS THIS SUMMER! 🐋🦌

The Chukchi are an indigenous people inhabiting the Chukotka Peninsula and the shores of the Chukchi Sea and the Bering Sea region of the Arctic Ocean within Russia. They speak the Chukchi language. Chukchi originated from the people living around the Okhotsk Sea. According to most recent genomic research, Chukchi people are the closest cousins of the First Americans in Asia.

The Russian name "Chukchi" is derived from the Chukchi word Chauchu ("rich in reindeer"), which was used by the Reindeer Chukchi to distinguish themselves from the Maritime Chukchi, called Anqallyt ("the sea people").

The Inuit (Eskimo, Yupik) are a group of culturally similar indigenous peoples inhabiting the Arctic regions of Greenland, Canada, Chukotka and Alaska. The Inuit languages are part of the Eskimo-Aleut family.

Inuit are the descendants of what anthropologists call the Thule culture, who emerged from western Alaska around 1000 CE. They had split from the related Aleut group about 4,000 years ago and from northeastern Siberian migrants, possibly related to the Chukchi language group, still earlier, descended from the third major migration from Siberia. They spread eastwards across the Arctic.

Мы побываем в Лорино – столице китобоев, где местные чукчи и инуиты занимаются китобойным промыслом и практикуют моржовую охоту, свидетелями которых мы можем стать. Отведаем настоящие чукотские деликатесы - лосось, красную икру, моржовое мясо, мантак.⚓️

Остановимся в яранге чукотских оленеводов и полностью погрузимся в их быт и культуру. 🦌

Наша экспедиция дойдет до края земли и удивительного места силы - Мыса Дежнева на самой оконечности континента, откуда в хорошую погоду открывается вид на Америку.

На протяжении всей экспедиции с нами путешествует и читает лекции ученый-этнолог, специалист в области коренных племён Чукотки.

We invite you to the summer expedition with an ethnologist to Chukotka.

We’ll be in the place where day turns into night, where from the eastern hemisphere to the western one is only one step, where myriad colonies of walruses are fond of rookeries on the Earth's edge, and whales splash the waters of Pacific Ocean with their tails.🐋

We visit Lorino, the capital of whalers, where Chukchi and Inuit people are engaged in whale and walrus hunting, that we can witness. We have some real Chukchi delicacies - salmon, red caviar, walrus meat, mantak.

We stay in yaranga traditional dwelling of the Chukchi reindeer herders and deep dive into their life and culture.🦌

Our expedition will reach the edge of the earth and an amazing place of power - Cape Dezhnev at the tip of the continent, from where America is visible.

Throughout the expedition we are accompanied by ethnologist, big professional in indigenous peoples of Chukotka.
