Племя ньянгатом на обоих берегах реки Омо известно как главные поставщики оружия в эфиопскую Долину Омо. Являясь ближайшими родственниками племени топоса из Южного Судана, ньянгатом приобретали автоматы Калашникова у топоса, вовлечённых в Гражданскую войну в Южном Судане и безвозмездно получивших десятки тысяч единиц оружия. Таким образом, в Долине Омо появилась мода на АК-47, а сами ньянгатом стали наиболее воинственным племенем всего юга Эфиопии.
Интересна традиция женщин ньянгатом носить массивные бусы из бисера. Чем больше бус на шее, тем красивее женщина. Поэтому все бусы, что муж дарит жене или отец дочери, они носят на себе. Свои первые украшения ньянгатом получают, будучи ещё детьми, и так до самой старости и не снимают.

🇪🇹 COLLECTORS 👨🏿‍🦲
The Nyangatom tribe on both banks of Omo River is known as the main guns’ suppliers to the Ethiopian Omo Valley. Being the closest relatives of the Toposa tribe from South Sudan, the Nyangatom got Kalashnikovs from Toposa who were involved in the Civil War in South Sudan and were granted with dozens of thousands of weapons. This is how the AK-47 fashion appeared in the Omo Valley, and the Nyangatom themselves became the most militant tribe in the south of Ethiopia.
Traditionally Nyangatom women wear massive bead necklaces. The more necklaces on the neck, the more beautiful is the woman. Therefore, they wear all the necklaces that the husband granted to his wife (or the father to his daughter). Nyangatom get their first beads adornment when they are children, and so they do not take it off until they are old.
