How many details do you want in your UI? Google: "Yes."

It’s becoming increasingly clear that Google is taking Pixel’s software more seriously than ever, rapidly closing the gap with other Android skins in terms of UI polish and overall UX.

Here’s a quick walkthrough of Google’s latest design choices:
New power button animation: Following in the footsteps of other Android skins (like ColorOS and HyperOS), Google has introduced a sleek new animation for the power button. When Gemini is invoked via a long press, the screen’s edges subtly get bulkier before culminating in an "explosion" effect as the pop-up appears.

New folder animations:
Opening and closing folders now feels smoother—albeit slightly slower—with a refined animation that pairs nicely with a dimmed background for improved contrast and a more polished UX.

Redesigned Settings and Permissions pages:
Both sections have undergone a significant visual overhaul, featuring fresh fonts, updated color schemes, modernized icons, and a more intuitive layout.

Redesigned Package Installer UI
The Android Package Installer UI has gone through a major interface and user experience overhaul. All the elements are now much better positioned and spaced between one another.

When combined with previous leaks, these changes paint a clear picture of Google’s new design direction, and there is an official name for it: "Expressive Design". Whether this aesthetic will fully replace Material Design remains uncertain, but one thing’s for sure—it’s here to stay, at least for the next few Android versions.
Well. It's been a while actually... but here we're back with some new leaks for you!

Based on our extensive walkthrough over Google's design choices with their brand new MD3 "Expressive Design", here's a first peak at the new changes within Pixel's system apps, starting with... the Clock app!

The Clock's App UI went through a significal visual overhaul, featuring a fresh rasterized design, new fonts and switch buttons.

Moreover, the app is now 100% Jetpack Compose based.

As we promised yesterday... here's a closer look to the new battery icons Google is now working on

The icon is sleaker, more modern, and aligns perfectly with Google's MD3 Expressive aesthetics.The rounded corners and the new shape give it a fresh, polished look while maintaining clarity at a glance.. although it looks VERY iOS-ish

Allegedly, a certain AndroidAuthority Tech Journalist (hi, kuba, does the hole hurt by any chance?) has been accused of being a full-blown rapist, dr11g abuser and whatnot

the loophole is closed and the ship is sinking 🥀

A new codename appeared in the latest CMF Phone 2 Pro firmware. Metroid

As an exclusive insight, our source gives us certainty that this is going to be Nothing Phone 3's official codename, and it's going to be released really soon 👀

P.S: No, there most likely won't be any Phone 3 Pro
The new expressive redesign is finally incoming with the new Android 16 QPR1 beta!

Most of the changes we have previously leaked are now officialized by Google. As spotted on Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1, the presence of this new "expressive design" is all over the system.

Here's a small re-cap of what's to be expected in the upcoming build:
• adding of blur all over the system, such as the app drawer (source) and the launcher overview (source);
• new status bar icons, similar to the ones from iOS (source);
• reworked recents view page with a newer (and cleaner) interface (source);
• clock personalization and wallpaper effects for customizing further your setup (source).
• the long awaited quick settings shown in photos, in contrast to the many experiments done with dual-shade...

...and many more! It seems like developers are really working hard on making Pixel phone's interface more customizable and enjoyable for the end-user, catching up with the latest trends introduced by the different skins present in today's phones market.

Are you happy with these finalized changes? Would you have preferred if Google took some more time and maybe rethought some of their design choices? Let us know below!
