Effectiveness of traditional academic exams have long been in the center of discussions. Many believe that “pen and paper” exams fail to comprehensively assess students’ accomplishments. Despite having flaws like not being able to see person’s full potential, traditional exams must be more optimal way of assessing someone’s academic level since other methods fail to get to that level in my opinion.
First of all, classical school exams are known to be stressful. Students feel tremendous pressure and try to pass them successfully. Although such pressure helps develop a sense of responsibility, one cannot ignore the psychological impact of such events. Continuous stress might lead to mental and physical problems for students in the long run. Therefore, Japanese schools are popular with a policy for not requiring any exams until the elementary school is over. Reportedly, Japan’s educational system has been enjoying the fruition of such thoughtful policy where students grow up confident and the probability of developing disorders in their behavior or health lessens.
Alternative ways of testing learners have long been developed but have never been approved at the international level due to shortcomings. Therefore, classical paper exams have been serving for schools for decades. For exams, some educational institutions use in-person oral exams. Not only do such face-to-face challenges last short, it also cannot be used for masses. The reason is simple: it requires endless hours to conduct costing a lot more than traditional exams and it is relatively subjective compared to systemized paper exams. On the other hand, old-style exams are not time-consuming and cost-friendly compared to the other means of assessments. Therefore, I, experiencing series of such exams during my ongoing years of education, still believe the competency of traditional exams until the next best method is approved globally. I also expect that the next revolution in student assessment will come from an artificial intelligence (AI).
In conclusion, I firmly believe that the current system of traditional exams at schools, despite of some drawbacks, has been evolving for long time enough to trust the credibility compared to other forms of assessment. However, I strongly believe that AI will take over soon.

Can you assess the extent to which countries may lose their cultural identity in the future?

I think countries losing their cultural identity is a real concern. With globalization and the spread of Western culture, you're seeing traditional customs and values being diluted. It's like everything's becoming homogenized. But hey, at the same time, there's also a push to preserve cultural heritage. People are waking up to the importance of tradition. So, yeah, it's a battle, but I'm hopeful we'll find a balance.

Today was a very tiring day. These four guys followed me to the IDP test center for their first real IELTS exam (except Sarvar). Took whatever came through their ways. They felt very overwhelmed by the realm of the exam. However, they were not satisfied with their performance as expected. I hope and pray that they will get their desired scores. I am very proud of you, guys! Thank you for today's unforgettable memories!
