VOLKSWAGEN SET FOR EPIC KILLARNEY TUSSLE

Volkswagen Motorsport driver Jonathan Mogotsi heads to Cape Town just five points off the South African National SupaCup championship with just four races left to run, the next two being at the Killarney International Raceway on Saturday 21 September. The multiple SA Rally-Raid champions, Henk Lategan and navigator, Brett Cummings received the chequered flag as the winners of the Phakisa 400, the sixth and penultimate round of the SARRC at Welkom in the Free State, and by bringing their Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux IMT EVO home as the victors, they concluded unfinished business by securing the overall and the FIA Ultimate T1+ titles.

SPRING KARTING TO THE MAX AT KILLARNEY

Spring traditionally comes a little later to the Cape, but that did not prevent a perfect day for racing and the sixth round of the Western Cape Rotax Max Challenge Karting championship at Killarney on Saturday. Encouraging grids of karts across the classes made for entertaining races in a fair mix between close racing and domination.

PABAR VW CHALLENGE: WHAM, BAM, HELLO M'AM

It was a day of high drama for the PABAR VW Challenge on Saturday as Wayne Masters, Stuart Mack and Christopher Tait all scored victories in the respective classes. It all started normally enough with an orderly race 1, but all hell broke loose on the start of the second heat.

BIG DRAMA AT THE BIG Z

Zwartkops Raceway treated Gauteng race fans to an epic day of early spring racing that actually ran into the night with the annual Ferro Energia 111 200 endurance race on Saturday. In a dramatic day at the races, there was a double bonus of V8 racing as the Cape Pirelli Cape V8 Masters joined the regular Zwartkops classes alongside the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars.

A DOUBLE TROPHY WEEKEND FOR RACKSTRAW

Cape Town race driver Andrew Rackstraw enjoyed a perfect weekend as he drove to double victories to capture two significant British motorsport trophies on Saturday.
