#PowerShock | According to #RBI data, banks’ loans to the #power sector stood at nearly Rs 6.1 lakh cr as of March 25, up 7.2% YoY. This represents 5.1% of outstanding bank credit.

India experienced a peak #power demand of 159.7 GW on May 1, the lowest for this day in three years. The peak demand deficit was 53 MW, the lowest in a decade.

The country witnessed a peak #power demand of 213.89 GW on May 18. The demand, which could not be met on the day, or the peak demand deficit, increased to 2,838 MW from 1,777 MW on May 17.
