Kim Mingyu was born on April 6, 1997, in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. His birth name is Kim Min Gyu(๊น๋ฏผ๊ท). His nationality is South Korean. Mingyu belongs to Asian ethnicity while Aries is his zodiac sign. Born as the eldest son to his parents, Mingyu aspired to become a singer since his childhood that he got cast at Pledis Entertainment while he was in his second year of Burim middle school. He was just 14 years old when he started training with other teenage boys at the company.
Alongside his members, he got his training at Seoul for 4 years till their debut in 2015. After moving to Seoul to pursue his singing career, he entered the Seoul Broadcasting High School there and graduated in 2016. Besides, during his primary years, Kim was part of the schoolโs soccer team and even placed second in the National Championship. Kim Mingyu is a South Korean rapper who is well recognized as the lead rapper of the popular K-pop group, Seventeen. Seventeen is a K-pop Idol group under Pledis Entertainment which consists of 13 members including Mingyu.
With his charming personality, handsome face, and rapping skills, Mingyu earned much recognition also along with his group which debuted in 2015. Mingyu is also the tallest member who is also in charge of the visual of the group. He even earned the nicknames Mr. Wristband, Technician, Mingyu Shop, and Kim-ssi ahjussi. On February 22, 2021, Mingyu became one of several K-pop stars who were embroiled in scandals involving alleged bullying while at school after a post surfaced online claiming Kim was part of a โgroup of delinquentsโ during his time at Burim Middle School.
