JUST IN: 🇷🇺 President Putin signs new decree that allows foreigners to seek temporary residence in Russia.

Putin says it's an escape from the Western "destructive neo-liberal" policies of their home countries, inviting them to adopt Russia's "traditional" values.

The BRICS Bloc Suspends New Memberships as More Than 40 Countries Want to Join (1/2)

Excerpt
The latest news indicate that there has been a shift in approach towards the block's growth and alignment. While the BRICS are still very much committed to fostering a multipolar world and creating a counterbalance to Western LED economic structure, is short term goals have somewhat changed.

In mid August, the Bricks Block announced its decision to suspend its strategic expansion goals. This is quite shocking news considering that more than 40 countries, primarily those in Latin America and Asia and in Africa, have officially shown interest in becoming the Block's full members this year. The most recent country to formally apply Malaysia was a no brainer addition to a growing and strengthening economic association despite the high hopes of the global majority and its aspiration to support multiple clarity and to support the dollarization.

The chair of the BRICS Block thisyear, Russia announced that any expansion plans have been unexpectedly put on hold for the foreseeable future. For years, China and Russia supported quite ambitious expansion plans, and they still do. But as the role of the block has considerably transformed into a global symbol of multipolarity, its members are now facing a dilemma of choosing between quality and quantity. And so to that end, during the latest BRICS Foreign Ministers Council, the foreign ministers decided to suspend. The mission of new members for the time being.

Of course, it is true that the block's numbers are quite different in terms of their politics, in terms of their economies and their culture thier backgrounds. However, these are the exact differences that lie at the core of the concept of multipolarity of acceptance and a complete rejection of a global hegemon that has historically suppressed them and colonized these countries. So here's the statement from Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia by the overwhelming majority, the 10 members decided to take a pause with new members to take in the new members who have doubled the association. At the same time we're working on categories of partner countries. As stages ahead of a full-fledged membership.
In addition to that, Lavrov explained that the plan now is for the BRICS block to use the pause to draw up a list of categories for BRICS partner countries that will serve as a stepping stone towards full membership. Lavrov also emphasized that first and foremost, Russia will promote quote like minded countries.
I think it is very important in terms of cultural alignment and their ultimate goals to preserve those traditional values that these countries stand for. I personally think that this should buy no means be perceived as negative news. I actually think that this is very wise, given the speed with which our world has been transforming, the volume of events and their magnitude and of course their implications. The BRICS is taking time to be more strategic. And to align internally prior to offering a seat at the table to new people, to new members.

The BRICS Bloc Suspends New Memberships as More Than 40 Countries Want to Join (2/2)

The suspension of new memberships will facilitate stronger ties between existing members and it will allow the newly admitted states to be fully on boarded to be fully integrated. Lavrov pointed to the development of the BRICS partner country model, which includes a list of those countries that would serve the goals of the block. This model is expected to be shared during the 2024 summit in Kazan this fall. The BRICS is taking a pause and by doing so it's actually able to focus on its 3 core goals, which are sustainable development goals, security and economic growth. This isn't something that can be achieved overnight and without a doubt taking some time to actually develop a clearer model of ideal partners, with all members being in full agreement and on board will make them so much stronger. There is a very clear interest in joining the block and I expect that it will only increase once the BRICS Block advances its development of technological infrastructure for BRICS Basket. The local currencies to be used effectively and once Ambridge development is further along and of course we know that geopolitical alignment of potential members is very important as well. And so I'm sure that the existing members are waiting for some clarity there as well.

After all, now is the time to address those internal differences. For example, perhaps disagreements between China and India. Although to be completely honest, this particular case would be a hefty goal. But regrouping now will decrease the probability of negative interferences later on. The pause and expansion should be viewed in a positive light because it will serve the core goals and the core interest of the economic alliance instead of deciding who to admit. And of course, there is an extensive list of those who are willing to join. First and foremost, the blocks Members will now decide on their internal structure, whether you BRICS Parliament being already in the pipeline, as I discussed previously. Second, they will align on their partner model and so I expect that this partner model will transcend economic barriers and will actually include strong considerations of political positions of those countries that have applied formally. And of course, looking back, perhaps they wouldn't have extended an invitation to Argentina had they already had a clearly defined expectation and requirements of those seeking admission.

So finally, the Third Point. That I would like to make is that taking a pause will allow the block to observe what happens in the Middle East in the near term, meaning whether the conflict will escalate or if it will be mostly contained, as well as to observe what happens in Ukraine and in Russia. And if there is any indication of de escalation.

BRICS Officially Announces Financial System Similar to SWIFT

The creation of a new financial messaging system similar to SWIFT will allow BRICS to reshape the global trade landscape.
The majority of cross-border transactions are now settled using SWIFT. BRICS can create a new payment system without incorporating the US dollar for transactions.

Russia confirmed that the BRICS alliance plans to build a new payment system similar to SWIFT. “The financial agenda of BRICS has a main initiative for building a new economic reality that solves both major tasks. Creating our own financial messaging system for the BRICS countries, similar to SWIFT, based on state-owned banks capable of clearing settlements of counterparties from the BRICS countries and the related role of the same bank,” said Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Alexander Babakov.

Biden Administration Rushes Digital ID Plans 🤔

The Biden administration is working to expedite widespread adoption of digital IDs, including driver’s licenses, a draft executive order indicates.

Digital IDs are a contentious concept primarily because of the concentration of – eventually – the entirety of people’s sensitive private information in centralized databases controlled by the government, and on people’s phones, “client-side.”

That in turn brings up the issues of technical security, but also privacy, and the potential for dystopian-style mass surveillance.

The First Supermoon This Year🌕

Sounio, Greece, August 20 - It looks that the first supermoon of the year rises in the night sky above the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon, the patron god of the sea, which still stands at the tip of Cape Sounio, south of the Greek capital Athens.

A supermoon is a phenomenon that can be seen when the moon is at its closest point to the Earth, and although scientists say the difference is barely noticeable, it appears larger than a normal moon.

This year, in addition to August, a total of four supermoons can be observed in September, October and November. Incidentally, the September supermoon will coincide with a partial lunar eclipse, making the October supermoon the biggest of the year.

Due to the lunar orbit being constantly changing into an ellipse, such a phenomenon usually occurs only 3 to 4 times a year.

"Government Advisor discusses feasibility of using Dinar instead of Dollar for oil sales"

Government Financial Advisor Midhar Mohammed Saleh gave us a list of things Iraq needs to do to convert their oil sector into the Petro Dinar:

* Acquire significant Foreign Reserves or Gold
* Global Market acceptance
* A robust Financial infrastructure in their own country and abroad
* A "law of one price," which means, the same price around the world through reducing trade barriers
* Broader economic conditions such as other assets within one's country providing potential growth
* Effective currency management

Iraq already has a list of countries that have signed into Free Trade Agreement partnerships. And, many of the above list are already in process.

I see two significant items on the list above that still need to be coordinated. The first item is Global Market acceptance. This would require the new digital banking system to accept the Iraqi Dinar back onto their ledgers.

The second item refers to the new digital asset based trading system, and Iraq has already integrated themselves inside the new QFS and awaiting activation.

In 2025, U.S.-Vietnam relations will mark two important anniversaries: 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War and 30 years since the normalization of U.S.-Vietnam relations. These anniversaries reflect the United States and Vietnam’s long journey toward strong bilateral ties.

Ties reached a new high-water mark in September 2023 when President Joe Biden and the late Communist Party of Vietnam general secretary Nguyen Phu Trong elevated the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership—the highest in Vietnam’s diplomatic canon.

This made clear to every official in Vietnam that the country’s collective leadership prioritizes the bilateral relationship. The same is true of Vietnam’s recently concluded comprehensive strategic partnerships with AustraliaIndiaJapan, and South Korea. There is no reason to think that any future leader in Vietnam would seek to slow the momentum in those deepening relationships.

Gold bars are worth a million dollars for the first time

For the first time ever, a bar of gold is worth a cool one million dollars.
The milestone was reached Friday, when the precious metal’s spot price surpassed $2,500 per troy ounce, an all-time high. With gold bars typically weighing about 400 ounces, that would make each one worth more than $1 million.

EU Lawmaker Threatens to Ban X Unless Musk Complies with Censorship Demands

A Member of the European Parliament has threatened that if Elon Musk fails to align X with European censorship regulations, the platform could be blocked within the EU.

This was asserted by Sandro Gozi, an Italian serving as an MEP for France, during an interview with La Repubblica. His precise words were: “If Elon Musk does not comply with the European rules on digital services, the EU Commission will ask the continental operators to block X or, in the most extreme case, force them to completely dismantle the platform in the territory of the Union.”

This dramatic stance has sparked a backlash from Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini who criticized Gozi’s comments as a “disturbing threat to free speech in Europe,” condemning the idea of muting millions to punish dissent. Salvini strongly stated, “Silencing the voice of millions of people in order to strike out at those who think differently from them? Unacceptable and disturbing.”

RFK Jr.’s VP, Nicole Shanahan, says they are considering joining forces with Trump, in order to prevent a Harris and Walz administration. 😎

You know, there's 2 options that we're looking at and one is staying in forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Waltz presidency because we draw votes from Trump or we draw somehow more votes from Trump. Or we walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump and, and you know, we walk away from that and we explained to our base why we're making this decision.

RFK Jr. Campaign May Join Forces With Trump or Form New Party, Running Mate Says

The campaign of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has not received a fair chance at winning the election, according to his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, leading the campaign to consider the option of forming a new party or joining forces with Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump.

“I really wanted a fair shot at this election, and I believed in the America I as a little girl pledged allegiance to, and that is not where we are today,” Shanahan said in an interview with the Impact Theory podcast posted online on Aug. 20.

VPNs Vanish from Brazil’s App Store as Internet Freedom Faces Unprecedented Clampdown

In Brazil, a significant upheaval in digital privacy and access to information is unfolding, as a notable number of reputable VPN services—including NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, and VyprVPN—have vanished from the local iOS App Store. This move is widely believed to comply with Brazilian authorities’ secret directives, reflecting a concerning trend towards online censorship.

This development is particularly alarming in light of the recent decision X made to shutdown its operations in the country. X terminated its operations after a protracted legal confrontation with Brazilian officials, who had accused the platform of insufficient efforts to combat disinformation, specifically its failure to block accounts spreading false information and hate speech. Despite the shutdown, X’s app is still accessible in Brazil.

The closure of X’s offices and the removal of VPNs from the App Store have spurred a significant shift toward VPN usage among Brazilians, seeking to bypass increasing online restrictions. Proton VPN reported a staggering 580% surge in new registrations recently, highlighting the growing reliance on VPNs to maintain internet freedom.

Nevertheless, acquiring these tools has become challenging. Attempts to install these apps from the iOS App Store are met with no option to download, indicating a blockade rather than a mere removal.

The current scenario underscores the critical importance of VPN services in safeguarding internet freedom in Brazil. As digital platforms face governmental pressures and the landscape of internet accessibility continues to evolve, the role of VPNs as tools for ensuring unrestricted access to information becomes ever more vital.
