Is modding even worth it if you want a "forever world"?

I've been debating on getting some mods to alleviate some of the grievances i have with vanilla minecraft, mainly simple things and small QoL additions, nothing that takes away the vanilla feel but just adds things that should be standard practice in game.

But I also want to do it on a world i can play on forever, I don't like starting over from scratch every update, especially if i want to work on building up my home world.

That being said, is it even worth trying? Cause it feels like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Primal Magick is a really fun mod but it tries to be a standalone definitive magic system with it's own lore and story which doesn't fit neatly into most packs, also it's very loosely based on The Dragon Prince which is a show i don't like

Anyone know what mod could POSSIBLY give a player a singular oak plank upon joining a server/world?

As the title says!
I've got my own personal private modpack for a friend group, and everytime one of us joins our server, or even our private worlds, we receive a singular oak plank in our inventories

is there a mod that gets rid of tools breaking upon reaching 0 durability? (forge 1.20.1)

im looking for a mod that removes tools/any breakable item from just deleting itself upon reaching 0 durability, I've tried a mod before that made it so enchanted tools don't break but there's so much mods that add "mending-like" enchantments that its impossible to just use a item delete mod to just get rid of them as I have mods that make enchanting really accessible, and last I checked no one has made a mod to delete enchantments from the game with a config.

I use lukas' weapon leveling but that does not really apply to stuff like pickaxes and shovels (which are what I'm specifically trying to make "unbreakable" here while making it so you can't just burrow through the earth with insane enchants
