Alternatives to void/skyblock worlds? Biome/world recommendations please!
TL;DR: looking for mods to use to give a "skyblock-like" / "superflat-like" world, effectively no resources but some kind of variation to the world to make it look better in the distance.
Edit for clarity: mods that either add whole new worldgen or have biomes/dimensions that I could hack around with. I am NOT looking for modpacks, although I do appreciate your recommendations still ❤️
I really enjoy skyblock modpacks, but an endless void means either an art style that embraces floating, or a lot of work to build out a whole custom landscape/cityscape.
Superflat with a custom preset can give a simple endless plain without any resources, but ultimately means you need to put in landscaping time if you want to break up the flat texture.
Single biome means you can select a dull biome like gravel hills (I forget the name), but even if you augment with a mod to block ore generation, the carvers will still add in water ponds and lava pools, the height map will give oceans, and there's the whole hundred blocks of underground below the surface (that last one is less of an issue, but in resource limited tech modpacks, this could be a little cheat-y).
And ignoring the resource issue, full regular world generation means putting yourself at the mercy of the procedural generator entirely, having to search around for a landscape you want to build a base in.
What I'd love is some kind of simple alien world option, a simple single biome featuring hills (big or small), made out of a simple material (stone, gravel, sand, etc, or a custom decorative one). No pond or lake carver, no ores, plants or other resources. Just an alternative, slightly prettier, option to a skyblock void. Something like "Martian plains", "Lunar hills" or "barren wastes".
It's been nearly two decades since I last wrote any java code and I don't have a development toolchain set up to figure out how to do this from scratch. From what I can tell, this sort of world generator should be possible, and surely one already exists or is part of another mod already?
Goal is to have something I can drop into skyblock type modpacks as an alternative start, fully intend to do whatever legwork is needed to make that work but ooof would appreciate some pointers / mod recommendations!
Thank you so much for reading and your thoughts ❤️

What's up with Sodium and all it's ports?
Sodium has a lot of different ports, and I'm not sure which one to use. Embeddium and Rubidium I believe were both made because Sodium didn't have an official Forge port. Embeddium seems better to me, but that's just at a glance. Both Rubidium and Embeddium have a NeoForge port, but Sodium also has an official NeoForge port, so which one should I use for NeoForge? Also, I heard Rubidium is deprecated or something, so if anyone can tell me something about that.

Alternatives to MineColonies
Evening Modders, I tried asking this on the normal sub and got no replies so trying my luck here.
I've been looking for a specific kind of mod and the closest I seem to get is MineColonies, but I dont want to be the boss of a village. Searches on google and various other places keeps giving me answers to questions I didnt ask as well - always assuming I want to set my spawn to a village.
So I'm here hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
What Im looking for is a mod that just spawns villagers if I build a village. I dont mind if I have to flag beds for villagers to spawn in, or set a particular object or structure down, just that if theres a place where theres multiple houses close together I can designate it a village and the mod handles the rest.
For relevance - Im using 1.20.1 and Fabric. Thanks in advance.

Early Noteworthy Modpacks up to 1.4.7
Please add any I missed.
Alpha 1.2:
- Zombe's Modpack not really a modpack like we know it, a bunch of admin/godmode/cheat commands
Beta 1.2:
- AMCO - Arrrg's Minecraft Overhaul random mods from MC Forums mashed together, taken down for not asking permission
- Super Hostile: Sea of Flame not a modpack, first CTM (Complete the Monument) map, inspired original FTB maps
Beta 1.5:
- NOW That's What I Call Minecraft first modpack ever by SomethingAwful users, precursor to Yogbox
Beta 1.7.3:
- AMCO released again with permission, has Industrialcraft v1 in it
- Yogbox upgraded version of NTWICM, by Yogscast
- Technic Pack v1-v3 another pack by SomethingAwful users; has EE1, BTW, RP1; precursor to Tekkit (Classic), featured by Yogscast
- Skyblock not a modpack, influential challenge map
- Mango Pack not a retro pack, this is a modern kitchen sink modpack
1.0:
- Technic v5 notable for having Thaumcraft 1, Technic v6 for 1.1 has an updated version of TC1
1.1:
- prototype/unfinished Feed The Beast bedrock challenge map precursor to STOPGAP map
1.2.3:
- FTB STOPGAP bedrock challenge map precursor to FTB Retro Pyramid, basically a shorter, easier, non-pyramid version of it
Direwolf20 played a version of this vs Nearbygamer
1.2.5:
- Tekkit (Classic) SMP tech/magic factory style modpack; has EE2, Thaumcraft 2, Steve's Carts 1, Thermal Expansion 1; featured in Yogscast Jaffa Factory
- Feed The Beast Retro SSP/SMP aka pyramid map. challenge map but people started using the modpack on its own in regular Minecraft as a convenient way of installing all the popular mods. Slowpoke (creator of FTB) noticed this and started working on FTB Beta Pack A for 1.4.2, which would become FTB Ultimate for 1.4.7
- DNS Techpack v4 Tekkit alternative, noteworthy for having Minechem and InfiTools which is an extremely old version of Tinker's Construct
1.3.2:
- DNS Techpack v5 Tekkit style kitchen sink, has Gregtech v1
1.4.7
- Skyden Thaumcraft 3 skyblock quest map with NPC quest givers
- FTB Ultimate first modpack to dethrone Tekkit Classic, kitchen sink; has Gregtech 2, TC3, EE3, AE1, Soul Shards 1, XyCraft, Thermal Expansion 2; this is the first major modpack with a Gregtech endgame and is the start of Greg hate due to casual players not liking the grind and automation-heavy gameplay of Gregtech
- FTB Mindcrack Pack very similar to Ultimate, IIRC this uses Gregtech hard mode recipes {correct me if wrong} (i.e. Macerator needs diamonds), whereas Ultimate does not have nerfed recipes. Basically a harder version of Ultimate with less mods, e.g. there is no Applied Energistics here. EthosLab did a series on this pack

Im trying to get back into minecraft after a few years and modding feels more confusing
Fabric, Forge, Neoforge, optifine, sodium, oculus, etc. Optifine being obsolete, forge still there. Fabric and neoforge coming in. These new things supposedly being better but why does there have to be multiple? Sometimes some mods arent even compatible with certain mod loaders. Even when you think you got a mod working, it either crashes or just doesnt work but you dont know the problem. We’re using different launchers now?? I mean Modrinth is pretty handy but it has its issues. Some mod packs dont even make sense and like I tried to install bun souls and it was supposedly for forge so I got a forge build but nothing worked and I was missing hella stuff which still didnt fix my issue. Shaders are cool now but you need quite a bit of performance mods. Some modders dont even update their mods or make them compatible with popular mods like distant horizons (Which I lovvveeee so far). Its just all a mess and making me lose my interest in modding.
I dont mean to make people upset with this post im just frustrated with trying to get things to work at the moment

Horror mods which don't kill you, but unnerve?
I'm looking for horror mods or horror-ish mods which do not kill you, but just scare and unnerve you. No jumpscares, no destruction.
Specifically, on versions 1.20.1, 1.12.2, and 1.16.5, I appreciate all help!
