When you want to give your students a proper hands-on experience with English, one of the best options is to create something.
It provides an excellent opportunity for collaboration, creativity, planning, and higher-order thinking β it drastically increases Students' Talking Time and their use of English in general!
But sometimes the projects' ideas presented in our coursebooks can get too repetitive: make a poster, draw a picture, make a dialogue... These ideas are great per se β it's the lack of end-product diversity that diminishes the positive perception of them.
The author of the onthesamepageelt blog saves the day by providing an enormous list of different end-product ideas!
These ideas fit perfectly into all kinds of topics and grades β the whole spectrum of English teaching is covered! You can use these projects right from the Early Years up to the serious C2 level.
Research the chart, and have fun with your students!

π‘ PUZZLEMENT WEEK #3 ANSWER
It's really peculiar that most of the answers are technically right. If we try to find the best image for the big word, that has a smaller word with the same meaning inside. So, it's easy to picture a whole set of matryoshkas.
But, unfortunately, this linguistic phenomenon has stuck with the name that may be confusing. Maybe it's time to propose the new name on behalf of our channel's poll? π
You can find a lot of information about these words using the name Kangaroo words! The logic is the same β these are words that have a smaller word inside them, just like a mother kangaroo might have a baby in her pouch...
And actually, there are even whole websites dedicated to them! Personally, I find these words really helpful when I have the National Exam preparation lessons β it helps to focus my students on the structure of the word and what lies beyond. Here's a good example of an Upper-Intermediate worksheet, that you can use as a source of inspiration. And here's a nice free resource for Intermediate students.

π As a teacher, you've probably spent hours planning lessons.
You've considered the content, the activities, and the assessments. You've even thought about the different learning styles of your students. But despite all of your planning, your lessons may not be working as well as you'd like.
Jeanne Wolz, the author of the Teacher Off Duty blog shares her ideas on maximizing the impact of your lessons, in a form of questions you should ask before you proofread your lesson plan.
1οΈβ£ Students know what they need to learn in a lesson when the teacher clearly states the objectives of the lesson at the beginning of the class. The objectives should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound
2οΈβ£ Students know what is expected of their behavior when the teacher clearly states the rules and procedures for the classroom, as well as the consequences for breaking those rules. The best way to communicate expectations to students is to be clear and consistent. When students know what is expected of them, they are more likely to follow the rules and procedures.
3οΈβ£ Students know what is expected in their work when the teacher clearly communicates the expectations for the assignment. The teacher should provide students with grading criteria so that they know what they need to do in order to earn a good grade.
4οΈβ£ Students know why they are doing what they are doing when the teacher connects the learning to their interests and experiences. When students can see the relevance of the learning, they are more likely to be engaged and motivated
5οΈβ£ In a well-designed lesson, both the teacher and the students are doing work. The amount of work that each party does will vary depending on the lesson, but it is important for both the teacher and the students to be active participants in the learning process.

π€ PUZZLEMENT WEEK #4 ANSWER
Were you misled by the answer choices? This picture is an exercise in eyestrain, and hopefully, the state exam will not take this idea as an answer sheet π
That's right, that jumbled connection of lines and curves is actually a monogram of the entire English alphabet and the numbers from 1 to 9!
If you watch the video, you'll see how compactly they're arranged.
So how can you use this puzzlement in your lesson? Here are a few ideas:
πΆ Show the picture to your students and have them suggest a few hypotheses. What do they think it is? Why do they think that?
πΆ Ask questions about the individual elements. What are those tails coming off in the center? What do you think those circles might add up to?
πΆ Show the video to your students, pausing right after the first letter appears. Have them find all the other letters and numbers in groups.
πΆ Finish the video as a check. Make sure your students found all the letters and numbers.
I hope these ideas help you use this puzzlement in your lesson and spark curiosity in your students!

πβοΈ GOOGLE OR DOODLE
The final month of the school year is here, and it's time to get organized β and to revise everything your students have done during the year!
With so much to do, you need a simple strategy to help you stay on track. Enter the Google or Doodle strategy by ELL 2.0 blog.
β‘οΈ How it works: Before you start a lesson, have your students spend a few minutes googling the topic or doodling about what they remember. This quick activity will help them get their minds in gear and prepare for the revision ahead.
The best part about the Google or Doodle strategy is that it's flexible. Students can choose to Google, doodle, or do both. This gives them a sense of control and ownership.
π‘Here are some additional tips for using this strategy:
πΆ Set a timer for 2-3 minutes. This will help students stay focused and avoid getting sidetracked.
πΆ Have students share their Google or doodles with the class. This is a great way to start a discussion and get everyone thinking about the topic.
This strategy is a simple but effective way to boost student engagement and learning. Give it a try!
