While our memories of Hans Bolling’s ducklings are still fresh, we’d like to share another two families created by the Danish designer. In 1953, Bolling designed Oscar, a loveable wooden dog that was followed by two brothers, Bobby and Rufus. Bolling’s keen artistic eye made these toys very much alive, even though their modernist forms are quite simplistic. Just look at how they sit, give paw, beg for food…
Although the tips of the dogs’ tails are not white, beagle lovers and owners will agree that these are certainly beagles.

Full of character, these birds are made of pinewood, whose grain is visible in unpainted parts, and come in different colors and sizes.

The pattern does a great job illustrating two of the thoughts described in the book.
