Combs pleaded not guilty to all charges and stressed that all sexual acts were consensual. However, the prosecutor's office states that he forced his victims to drug-related sex parties for years with threats and violence. Potential jurors were shown folders with names and locations related to the case on Monday; one of them said he recognized actor Jordan B. Jordan and comedian Mike Myers on the list. The juror, a man who works as a state-approved massage therapist, said he only knew the two through their acting.
Judge Subramanian said the list of people and places was several pages. In order to speed up the proceedings, he ordered that the jurors should question the list individually in the courtroom before their presentation and then form a final panel of twelve jurors and six substitute jurors.
