The emergence of ChatGPT in 2022 has pushed companies worldwide to explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to reduce costs and improve efficiency on content creation. This technological shift led to a continuous rise in contents produced by various AI models, such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. According to a study by Graphite.io, as of mid-2025, the volume of AI-generated articles officially surpassed that of human-written content.
Since May 2025, the proportion of AI content has remained relatively steady, primarily because fully AI-generated articles face challenges with visibility on search engines like Google.
Overall, this study highlights a future where AI serves as a vital writing assistant. AI has become essential for rapidly organizing structures and generating initial drafts. At the same time, the human role has shifted toward refining that content—providing the nuance, depth, and distinctiveness that technology is still unable to replicate.
The study analyzed 65,000 English-language articles of 100 words or more published online between January 2020 and May 2025.
