Poul Thorsen co-authored key papers used to shut down the debate.

He was also indicted for stealing over $1 million in CDC grant money meant for autism research .. money he allegedly spent on a house, cars and a Harley.

After 15 years on the run, he was finally extradited.

On 1 September he is expected to plead guilty to the fraud charges.
