Mellow Memoir #1: 24 Minutes

Do you all like the name? I wanted an alliterative title, and "memoir" was the closest m-word to "blog" because that's exactly what this is - a blog all about Mellow Yellow!

This is a prime time to start a blog based on them. I'll focus on the Le Marble competition from a few days ago, but here's a quick recap of the team's recent results:

10th place in Marble League All Stars - which I would normally be a little disappointed by, but this was a winter event, and we all know of the 2018 Catastrophe as I like to call it, so I was satisfied with tenth.

8th place in ML Showdown 2024 - same as MLAS, but also a little sad that the team lost their perfect streak.

2nd place in Marble Survival - for the second year in a row... are we witnessing CONSISTENCY from MELLOW YELLOW?! We all know those two really don't belong in the same sentence, unless the context is something like "Mellow Yellow lacks consistency, it's quite hilarious actually"... I'm starting to ramble here. Anyway, good job Yellah.

Basically, it's been a heck of a lot worse to be a MY fan, so I really can't complain. With that said, let's unpack the Le Marble race, from the perspective of one of the five Mellow Yellow fans on this subreddit!

Qualifying

So Yeller, the reserve, was chosen to represent the team. A risk for sure, but considering our multi-lap racing history with a certain duo from the past five years, it's a risk worth taking. Anyway, Yeller is a decent athlete (much better than Yellim... seriously, the two should switch places), so I was wise enough to not write them off completely.

And that sure paid off, because they came fourth overall in the first round of qualifying! Even if they missed out on pole position and dropped four places in Q2, I was still happy, mostly because eight is my favourite number. Besides, I was still extremely giddy from the Stupid Speeders failing to qualify, so Yeller could've dropped all the way to tenth for all I cared (sorry Speeders fans 😬).

The Actual Race

Not going to lie, for the first two laps of the race I thought this event would pan out like most other multi-lap races - they get a good spot in qualifiers and do terribly in the actual race. But by the third lap, Yeller picked up the pace, and by Lap 11 they were consistently in the Top 6.

And then, the blessed Lap 32 came. Yeller took second place, and did not let go for the rest of the race (apart from one brief moment towards the end, but they reclaimed it in time). They finished right behind Starry from Team Galactic, and right in front of Clementin of the O'rangers.

Conclusion

Mellow Yellow finishes second... two events in a row?! I swear I'm losing my mind. I'm loving these constant great results so far, but I hope it doesn't bode bad results in the future...

This was definitely a very satisfying ending, not just as a Mellow Yellow fan, but it was great to see Team Galactic win an event for the first time in what seems like ages! It was also fun to finish just in front of the O'rangers again... the rivalry will never die!

It was also great to see Thunder get a good result, even if they missed out on podium in the end. I also liked seeing Crush from the Turtle Sliders get a decent result, and even for racers that didn't do particularly well in the race like Ghosto, Montoya and Ember, it was great seeing them qualify over well-established teams like the Speeders (although it hurt seeing the Razzies DNQ).

One more thing: if Yellah and Yeller don't represent MY in the next Marbula One season, I'm suing /j. But please, PLEASE do not send Yellup next season. I love them so much, and it really hurt seeing them do so badly. They just haven't been the same since the Aquamaring incident...

If you read this all the way, thank you! How did I do for my first blog? This was definitely mostly inspired by the long-running Thunderblog by u/schurgy16, although I've seen others for other teams and I thought it would be cool to start one for my favourite of the lot! I'm willing to listen to any feedback or criticism
anyone has. I tried to cut back on the rambling, but maybe it was still annoying for some of you? Maybe I'll add more sections for other teams that I like, such as a Razzie Report and something to do with Team Momo (still thinking of a name for that one).

Anyway, I'll (hopefully) be back for the next event that Mellow Yellow happens to be in. Until then, goodbye, God bless, and remember, #KeepItMellow!!!

Why did yelley retire?

I was going through the wiki of JMR and I remember yelley from mellow yellow my favourite team, but for some reason they retired on October 14 2022 just 1 year after winning the Marbkd leaugue. My question is why? They just won and yelley was an insane athlete

I'm sure all of the team snowy fans have wondered what was happening when Snowy wasn't racing in M1, well your questions might be answered in this fic Melting \[Podfic Inside\ - Spot27 - Jelle's Marble Runs (Web Series) [Archive of Our Own\]](https://archiveofourown.org/works/65624209)

Let's talk about the Marble Indy 500

(For newcomers - The blacked out parts has a reason, they're spoilers!)

Last night we got the qualifying session of the first running of the Marble Indianapolis 500. Which got me thinking: How will the race itself look like? I mean sure we've seen Q2 (no spoilers here yet), but like the traditions before and after the event given the longevity of the actual Indy 500. I'm talking about the performance of the "Back home again of Indiana", the starting command, the victory lane celebrations with the milk, that kind of stuff.

This is the first time in my whole life I doubted and believed at the same time if you can imagine that. I doubted because JMR made a questionable decision for the track to go backwards. You guys explained that it's because of the camera angles but the only answer we've got is from Greg Woods and that is "why not?". Also the grandstands on the final straight still has a traditional podium.

I believed because it looks like the team has researched a lot during the making of this. They nailed the Pagoda, the Yard of Bricks, the Snake Pit, and Gasoline Alley. The track rolling clockwise might be a small little hiccup to this. Had they not do this, they might not do 33 racers in a rolling start, a worst, worst case scenario for our returning friend >!Candy!<. Surely part of that research is the traditions. After all, the fact that the 500 has traditions is a tradition in itself. This wouldn't be the first time a lap race had an opening ceremony. The opening round of Marbula One Season 1 has an opening ceremony, not to mention the Marble League.

If so, would be interesting to see how most of the Indy 500 traditions played out. Who's going to sing back home again? Who's going to give the starting command (my bet is on the marble master himself, Jelle), what will victory lane look like? Will it be the seperate lane between the last straight and the grandstand? There are so many questions about outside the race than the race itself.

Speaking of the race itself, and you have to excuse me for this one, >!given what happened in Le Marble, I don't think even the pole sitter is safe from this one. Again, we've seen Q2, it's going to be fast, it's going to be chaos. Imagine Red Eye going from 33rd to the (metaphorical) podium and we will all wreck our screens because it happened again. Winning a race is just another Saturday for our THREE time Marbula One World Champion. Also very very interested to see how Candy does after 4 years of absence. Clearly with a position of P13, I don't think they got worn out at all after that many years of inactivity. In fact I believed that they believed that the Jawbreakers is going to return one day and imagine the wild ride Candy has to go during that absence. That never give up spirit.!<

Jelle/Dion if u see this..

Please put the indigo stars in m1 season 6!! Yes ik Montoya got 19th in le marble and indie got 27th in Indy 500 but they still really deserve a shot! Even in light of recent events the stars have proven more than worthy of a m1 spot with Diego getting 3rd in honey dome and the team winning the showdown. Fans have been waiting for years for the stars to finally get a chance at m1 and it would be such a shame to see them miss another year:((

They're not exactly helping their case there.
