This bypasses the artist's opt out completely.
Anyone can upload anything to Gemini without Google being legally responsible for using the art in their training.
I think it is bullshit Google just puts the responsibility to act right on the user.
I think it should be the company's responsibility to not train on artist's data and always assume they are not allowed to train on ANY art.

AI does not just threaten artists and writers: it is a direct danger to teachers, students, office workers, sales people, therapists etc.
It hinders our work, learning, creativity, empathy, and independent thought.
AI is making us dumber and lazier.
When we outsource writing, problem-solving, and thinking to machines, our brains atrophy. Actively losing our capacity for deep, critical thought.
No Fact-Checking: Because AI generates plausible-sounding text in seconds, people become too lazy to verify sources of the news. This leaves society highly vulnerable to mass misinformation and fabrications.
On the video they talk about students using AI to write papers and teachers using it to grade them. It must demotivate a student from putting in effort, if their essay is not even read and graded by a human.
No human connection, education becomes an empty echo chamber of machines talking to machines. Nobody is learning anything.
The same applies to therapy, office work, and sales work.
When human interaction is replaced by AI, sales people report that they miss interacting with customers the most. Now that the process is automated, the human role is reduced to simply double-checking what the AI did. This causes boreout, the opposite of burnout, where the work no longer challenges you nor provides new learning opportunities.
Capitalism will always choose automated convenience over human effort. We are downgrading ourselves into passive users who are entirely dependent on the algorithm, and soon we will struggle to find any jobs that have not been completely replaced by AI.
Big companies are the ones reaping all our human effort. This trajectory will not change unless we are vocal, actively vote into power people who will tax AI companies heavily and enforce strict regulatory laws to protect human labor and society.
