🗣️ Maltese Tuesday: Learn Maltese - Phrase of the Day! 🗣️
Hey Bonġu everyone! 👋 Back with our "Maltese Language Daily Dose"! It's Tuesday, so you know what that means – time to learn a new handy phrase that you can totally use in Malta.
Today we're learning how to casually ask "How's it going?" in Maltese. It's super easy:
Kif inti?
(Keef in-tee?)
That’s how you ask one person "How are you?" in a relaxed, informal way. It’s a go-to greeting you can use in a shop, café, on the street – pretty much anywhere!
Translation:
* English: How are you? / How's it going?
How to use it:
Imagine you pop into a little coffee shop in Malta for your morning caffeine fix. You can say hi to the barista with "Bonġu!" (Good morning!) and add:
You: Bonġu! Kif inti?
(Bon-joo! Keef in-tee?)
Barista: Bonġu! Jien tajjeb, grazzi. U inti?
(Bon-joo! Yeen ty-yeb, grat-see. Oo in-tee?) (Good morning! I'm good, thanks. And you?)
You: Tajjeb ħafna, grazzi!
(Ty-yeb ha-fna, grat-see!) (Really good, thanks!)
Easy peasy, polite, and totally Maltese! 😉
Practice saying "Kif inti?" out loud a few times. Try using this phrase today if you get a chance to chat with someone who speaks Maltese (or just for practice!).
Want to hear how it sounds? Hit up Google Translate or a Maltese dictionary online and listen to the pronunciation.
Happy Maltese learning! And see ya tomorrow! 👋
