80 sandstone pillared assembly hall , believed to be from Mauryan era was unearthed by ASI at Patna.
It is believed that the 80 pillars standing on a wooden floor and holding a wooden ceiling making an open air hall was used for 3rd Buddhist Council (decisive meeting) to unify Buddhist Sangha by Mauryan King Ashoka.
