On July 30, ISRO placed NISAR satellite , collaboration between India and US into its intended orbit.
NISAR - NASA-ISRO synthetic Aperture Radar.
It carries 2 Synthetic aperture Radars. These are imaging equipment to create pictures of Earth from space.
It was the first time 2 SARs were mounted on single satellite.
It is the most powerful earth observation satellite put in space. ISRO used GSLV rocket to place it in SSPO ( Sun Synchronous polar Orbit), 747 kms from Earth.
Objective - useful for research activities, climate change , disaster management, agriculture, urban planning etc.
