🦠 Hyundai and Kia are bringing UV sterilization to cars

📰 The automakers are introducing built-in ultraviolet lamps that can disinfect a vehicle's interior. In testing, the system sterilized an entire minivan in just 40 minutes. Thanks to its low-intensity UV output, the lamps are designed to operate even while people are inside the car.

👃 As a bonus, the UV system also helps eliminate unpleasant odors, keeping the cabin fresher.

🔫 Waymo robotaxi busts drunk teens playing with toy guns

🚕 A self-driving Waymo in San Mateo, California, turned into an unlikely narc this week.

• Two 15-year-old boys were riding around town drinking alcohol and firing what looked like a gun out the window of the driverless car. A Waymo employee monitoring the interior camera feed thought it was real – they even reported seeing recoil.
• Waymo called 911, remotely disabled the vehicle in a safe spot, and told the teens it had "mechanical trouble" to keep them from bolting before police arrived. Officers treated it as a high-risk stop, pulled the boys out, and searched the car.
• Turns out the "gun" was an Orbeez blaster – a toy that fires water-gel pellets – spray-painted black to look real. Police also found an open container of alcohol.
• The teens weren't arrested and were released to their parents; the DA's office is now reviewing possible charges.

Next Waymo update: handcuffs included? 😅
