Want a healthy and strong Liver? A healthy Liver gives way to healthy digestion, proper detox, strong Blood, hair growth, proper circulation, pain free menstruation, emotional balance and over 500 more essential functions that the body relies on.

Did you know that our Liver governs the tendons and manifests in the nails. Our tendons and fascia all rely on the nourishment of Liver Blood and the condition of the nails can reflect the level of Liver Blood 🩸.

One of the best ways to help the Liver along with your emotions, stress and circulation is to practice this massage daily. 揉地根 is called "massage ground tendon". The ground tendon is located on the bottom of the feet, you can find it by placing your fingers alongside your toes and bending them forward. Then you will see the tendon appear running down the sole of the foot. See what I did in the video if you need help locating it. It will most likely feel very tight and stiff.

There are three basic types of feels on this tendon:

〰️1: very stiff and hard, tender feeling. This equates usually to having a quick temper, becoming easily agitated, most likely you are very stressed.
〰️2: can’t find the tendon, (try to bend the toes all the way up) if still can’t find it, or the tendon is very soft means that there is insufficient Liver Qi (energy). Need to massage the tendon until it is stronger. Do this massage daily.
〰️3: tendon is big but not stiff, no pain or discomfort when touched. This usually applies to men over 50, and can reflect an over-stimulated Liver in his younger years from anger, overwork, excessive drinking, drug use or sexual activity.

How to?
〰️Use a bamboo or wooden stick as seen in my video. Roll on the bottom of each foot 15- 20 minutes before bed.
〰️Or use your hand to massage the tendon. You can do upwards and downwards strokes or circular strokes for 15-20 minutes on each foot.

“Manifesting,” is the practice of thinking aspirational thoughts with the purpose of making them real. It is based on the law of attraction.

Words have energy. I notice a huge difference in my day if I'm not in a positive headspace.

If any situation comes up, I like to think about my most positive, desired outcome.

For example, just like any mother, I would love my child to lead a positive and happy life. So how do I think about it? I picture him joyous and fulfilled. I picture him healthy with the job that brings him the most happiness along with a loving family. I picture that several times a day, when I think of him!

You have to really believe what you think! So if any particular words don't feel genuine, begin slowly. Feel good about what you're manifesting. Do it with a smile.

In Chinese medicine, our organs play a key role in our emotional health. For thousands of years we use our habits, mannerisms, characteristics and feelings to guide us to what is going on inside of us.

The Gallbladder is the partner to the Liver. Physically, it is known for storing bile produced by the Liver, controlling the tendons and sinews, affecting the quality and length of sleep and is the link between the Liver and digestive system (Spleen and Stomach).

In the emotional body, the Gallbladder holds the need for respect and ability to make decisions, it is the organ who has the courage to act on the plans of the Liver and also create turning points for new beginnings in life. It is responsible for decision making, judgment, and courage.

It also has a close relationship with the Heart. The Gallbladder’s decisiveness helps the heart to control the mind. It helps guide the Shen (our Spirit) and provides direction for it.

The Gallbladder is close to all organs, an ancient TCM text says that “the eleven depots (zang-fu organs) receive decisions from the Gallbladder”, it is also seen as a pivot, a turning point for new beginnings and new stages of life.

If the Gallbladder is weak, the capacity to express oneself could be realized, as the Gallbladder is responsible for our passion and assertiveness to act. If you feel like you're stuck in life and make decisions from a place of fear, your Gallbladder may be needing some attention.

When the Gallbladder is balanced, it acts like an anchor for your deliberation process. Decisions are clear and decisive with focused thought and sound judgement.

Strengthen your neck with gua sha. This gua sha and acupressure technique helps to tighten the neck and prevent loose skin.

The points used are:

〰️ Triple Heater or San Jiao SJ-17, 翳風 "Wind Screen"
〰️ Conception Vessel CV-23 廉泉, "Ridge Spring"
〰️ Stomach 11 ST-11 氣舍, "Qi Abode"

How to?
1️⃣ Begin at SJ-17, glide gua sha at 45° degrees with gentle pressure, in a downwards motion for 1 minute as shown.
2️⃣ Then use pressure with your finger to hold each point for 5 seconds and stop, repeat until you reach one minute. Begin at point SJ-17 and move as shown.

These points are main ones in order to open up the circulation to allow Qi and Blood to freely flow in an area which can become stagnated easily.

Late summer is considered to be one the major seasons in Eastern practices, giving us a total of five seasons instead of four like our calendars state in the West. It is a time used to stabilize as we shift from one season to the next.

When we use the Five Element Framework, one of the foundations of TCM, which is all about interrelationships and how they influence us, we become more intune and therefore more harmonious and healthy, both physically and mentally. Living with the cycles of the seasons and listening to nature's wisdom should not be forgotten as it gives us insight into how our body can find balance.

Our digestive system is the root of our health. That was believed thousands of years ago as the famous Chinese physician Li Dong Yuan founded the Earth School in 1180 CE, because he believed that the etiology of most diseases was a result of injury to the digestive system. He placed the Spleen and Stomach at the center of one’s health. Thanks to modern day research, we know that is true because of the role our gut plays in our immunity, mental health and more.

The Spleen and Stomach are responsible for transforming food and drink into what will become the Qi, Blood and fluids and essences the body needs for all bodily functions. When we are able to properly take in nourishment, we are able to create good health and wellness. Most who suffer from health imbalances are either unable to absorb proper nutrients from the food they are eating or don't eat proper nutrients to begin with— both resulting in dysfunction. Use this time to connect and eat real, whole foods.

Stay tuned for more on Late Summer health...

“The Large Intestine is responsible for transportation of all turbidity. All waste products go through this organ.” – Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine

The point known as the "great eliminator" or Large Intestine 4 (LI 4, 合谷) is one of my favorite points for its power to heal so many ailments. You may be surprised to know that the Large Intestine channel has more of an impact on the respiratory system than it does on the Large Intestine. How can this be true? Each organ system is paired with a bowel. The Lung organ system's bowel is the Large Intestine.

What can this point help with?
🖐🏽anytime you have a headache, migraines, earaches, toothaches or stiff neck.
🖐🏽to treat respiratory issues such as stuffy nose, head cold, cough, or aches associated with colds and flus.
🖐🏽to treat dryness and symptoms like constipation.
diarrhea, food poisoning, hangovers, menstrual cramps.
🖐🏽 this point while you are relaxing to help treat wrinkles and give way to glowing skin.
⚠️ do not use this point if you are pregnant– it can induce labor!

Point location
🖐🏽on the dorsal aspect of the hand. Between the metacarpal bones of the index finger and thumb, at the midpoint on the radial side of the second metacarpal. When the index finger and thumb are held together, the point is at the centre of the bulge between the thumb and index finger, you will feel tenderness there.

How to
🖐🏽rub each side with your opposite thumb for several minutes daily. Start slowly and increase time each day.

This point has been extensively studied through randomized controlled trials and clinical research. Recent studies from the Journal of Orofacial Pain showed that the stimulation of LI4 significantly reduced myofascial pain of the jaw muscles[1]. A recent Cochrane systematic review on acupuncture in migraine and tension-type headaches suggests stimulation of acupoints as an effective and valuable option for alleviating migraines and tension-type headaches [2].
Do you or someone you know suffer from hemorrhoids? If so, share this video and use these tips for natural relief, to solve the root problem!

1: Use gua sha on points LU-6 on the forearm and BL-57 on the back of the leg. Scrape upwards as shown 3-5 minutes on each point, twice daily.

🧻 Lung 6 孔最 "Collection Hole" stops bleeding and clears heat.
🧻 Urinary Bladder 57 承山 "Mountain Support" is the point for hemorrhoids and constipation.

2: Lifestyle tips: avoid spicy foods, fried foods, and dry foods like crackers and chips. Eat many vegetables by steaming or lightly sauteeing them. Avoid heavy sauces like bbq and things with lots of flavor. Have simply prepared foods during this time. Eat more soups, hydrate with warm/ hot water. Go to bed early. Don't sit too long and don't sit on the toilet too long.

Feel better!
Persimmons are a wonderful treat to look out for in your next trip to the Farmer's Market or grocery store. They are in full season during the Fall and if you’re lucky enough to live on the West Coast, they are readily found in markets well into December.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), they are categorized as having a sweet and astringent flavor.

Since persimmons are considered a cold essence food, don't eat too many as they cause diarrhea, especially for those who have weak digestion. They are best eaten early afternoon/ the time of day when the sun (Yang) is the brightest!

In the Buddhist religion, persimmons are a symbol of transformation. In China, persimmons are an auspicious gift to newlyweds to celebrate eternal love and their genus name, diospyros, is Greek for “food of the gods.”
