Google is testing its artificial intelligence (AI) technology, Med-PaLM 2, on patients of a network of clinics.

Med-PaLM 2 is a branch of the Google's large language model PaLM 2, trained on medical knowledge.

The AI-powered technology is used to obtain answers to medical questions and summarize analyses, records, prescriptions, and other documentation. It has the potential to be particularly valuable in countries with limited access to physicians. 🤒

In the spring, Google shared research that found Med-PaLM 2's answers to medical questions were of higher quality than those of practicing doctors in 8 out of 9 evaluation categories.
