[ ras'tov vi'likij ]
🔻First mentioned in documents in 862 as an important settlement, by the 10th century Rostov became the capital city of Vladimir-Suzdal, the most prominent principalities in Rus'.
🔻Ravaged by the Mongols in the 13th and 14th centuries, and the Poles in 1608, Rostov survived as a medium-sized town.
🔻The main thing why tourists come here is the most beautiful temples, monasteries and cathedrals.
🔻If you are not a fan of church architecture, then there is also something for you to see museums, gardens, fortresses, galleries and much more.
🔻The Rostov Kremlin museum complex was included among the most valuable cultural heritage sites of which Russia is proud.
🔻While the official name of the town is Rostov, it is popularly known to Russians as Rostov Veliky (Ростов Великий) to distinguish it from the much larger city of Rostov-on-Don.

Лежать (to lie) is a horizontal position on some surface or being inside some other object.

Сидеть/Сесть (to sit) is to have support for the lower part of a body, except for birds and insects which have short legs, so they seem to 'sit' rather than 'stand'.

🔻To be a good mother is difficult:
You work a lot - who will take care of the child?
If you don't work - you're too homely.
You care about the child a lot - you overprotect him.
If you give a child independence - you don’t care.
🔻It's all different about being father:
The child is alive?
Do you remember his name?
That's it, you're good enough!
I want to be a dad!

🔻 In 2004, journalists were extremely surprised when, on the first day of his visit to Moscow, Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino asked to be taken to the cemetery in Peredelkino, to the grave of Boris Pasternak, his literary idol since childhood.
🔻According to eyewitnesses, Tarantino, having visited the cemetery, took several photographs for memory, and then asked the cameramen not to film: he sat for a long time in thought at the grave on the grass, leaning against the monument.
🔻And then he said that he came only for this. He wanted to be a little closer to the person, the personality of whom influenced him so much and that he knows all his poems since childhood.
Have you read any poems by Boris Pasternak yet?

'Хмель' Борис Пастернак (1953)
'Hop' by Boris Pasternak (1953)
🇬🇧 "HOP"
Under a broom, entwined by ivy,
From rain, we’re hiding for the time.
A cloak protects our shoulders slightly,
My arms, around you, intertwined.
No, I was wrong. Among these shrubs,
Not ivy, but green hop has widened.
So, should we spread this cloak, perhaps,
Over the grass for us to lie on?
👇 In the comments to this post there is an audio file 🗣 , Russian and French texts of the poem.

[ yaraslavl' ]
🔻In the 9th century the so-called Russian Khaganate formed, near Yaroslavl, a large Scandinavian-Slavic settlement in Timerevo.
🔻When excavations were carried out, a large number of artifacts, including Scandinavian weapons with runic inscriptions, chess pieces, and the largest collection of Arabian coins in northern Europe, were found.
In Timerevo the fourth set of Scandinavian brooches ever found in Russia was discovered.
🔻Based on its earliest date of foundation, Yaroslavl is the oldest of all the existing towns on the Volga.
🔻Yaroslavl was founded by Yaroslav the Wise, a prince of Kievan Rus', during the period of his ruling the Principality of Rostov (988—1010). The name of the city is traditionally linked to that of its founder: Yaroslav.
