🔢 Ростов Великий
    [ ras'tov vi'likij ]

🔻First mentioned in documents in 862 as an important settlement, by the 10th century Rostov became the capital city of Vladimir-Suzdal, the most prominent principalities in Rus'.

🔻Ravaged by the Mongols in the 13th and 14th centuries, and the Poles in 1608, Rostov survived as a medium-sized town.

🔻The main thing why tourists come here is the most beautiful temples, monasteries and cathedrals.

🔻If you are not a fan of church architecture, then there is also something for you to see museums, gardens, fortresses, galleries and much more.

🔻The Rostov Kremlin museum complex was included among the most valuable cultural heritage sites of which Russia is proud.

🔻While the official name of the town is Rostov, it is popularly known to Russians as Rostov Veliky (Ростов Великий) to distinguish it from the much larger city of Rostov-on-Don.

🔢 На столе стоит (stands):
стакан (glass)
сковородка (sauce pan)
тарелка (plate)
чучело птицы (stuffed bird)

🔹️Их поставили->они стоят
Стоять (to stand) is about a stable (most often vertical) position on some foundation.

🔢 На столе лежит (lies):
вилка (fork)
тарелка лежит в сковородке (plate is lying in the sauce pan)

🔹️Их положили -> они лежат
Лежать (to lie) is a horizontal position on some surface or being inside some other object.

🔢 На столе сидит (sits):
кошка (сat)
•птица (bird)

🔹️они сели-> они сидят
Сидеть/Сесть (to sit) is to have support for the lower part of a body, except for birds and insects which have short legs, so they seem to 'sit' rather than 'stand'.

🔻To be a good mother is difficult:
You work a lot - who will take care of the child?
If you don't work - you're too homely.
You care about the child a lot - you overprotect him.
If you give a child independence - you don’t care.

🔻It's all different about being  father:
The child is alive?
Do you remember his name?
That's it, you're good enough!
I want to be a dad!

Отец (masculine, official)
[ a'tets ]

Папа (inofficial)
[ 'papa ]

Папочка (deminutive)
[ 'papachka ]

Батя (colloquial)
[ 'batya ]

win a resounding victory

🇷🇺 А Russian Victoria Dudakova entered the UFC 294 octagon to the song “I am Russian” by Shaman and beat the athlete from the USA!

🇷🇺 It’s especially nice that Russian athletes can compete in mixed martial arts under the Russian flag: UFC is one of the few international sports organizations that allows this.

👋 Доброе утро всем!

🔢 I'm sure you know the polite phrase:

Приятного аппетита!
  [ pri'yatnava appe'teeta ]
🇬🇧 Literally: (I wish) Enjoyable appetite to you! Or Enjoy your meal!

🔢 But you can also hear a phrase, which at first sight relates to a meal:

Кушай, не обляпайся!
[ 'kooshaj, ni ab'lyapajsya ]
🇬🇧 Literally: Eat, don't bespatter yourself!

Meaning:
1⃣It can be said by a friend/relative as an ironical and kind reply to 'Thank you!' instead of 'You are welcome!'

- Cпасибо большое!
- Пожалуйста! Кушай, не обляпайся!

2⃣This phrase may not refer to food at all, but to anything. Usually it's used in relation to greedy people when they make you give them what they want:

Да на, кушай, не обляпайся!
[ da na, 'kooshaj ni ab'lyapajsya ]

⚠️Its rude version is:

На, подавись!
  [ na, padavis' ]
🇬🇧 Here you are, choke on it!

🎧🗣👇 listen, practice and be polite! Hugs!

🔻Mysterious 'тютелька' [ 'tyutelka ] is a diminutive of the dialect word 'тютя' [ tyutya ], which means “blow, hit”.
🔻And in phraseological units we are talking about a targeted hit with an ax in the same place during carpentry work.

🔻The modern meaning of this expression is 'absolutely exactly.'

Эти туфли мне тютелька в тютельку!
[ 'eti 'tufli mne tyutel'ka f tyutel'koo ]
🇬🇧 The shoes fit me perfectly.
