Traditional Russian Okroshka: A Cold Summer Soup
๐ฒOkroshka is a refreshing, savory cold soup perfect for hot days.
Ingredients:
โChilled Bread Kvass (or Kefir+sparkling water)
โCooked Sausage ("Doktorskaya" sausage) or cooked beef/chicken
โ Hard-boiled Eggs
โ Fresh Cucumbers
โ Radishes
โ Boiled Potatoes
โ Fresh Dill
โ Green Onions
โ Sour Cream
โ Dijon Mustard (optional)
โ Salt and Black Pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Dice all cooked and raw solid ingredients (sausage/meat, eggs, cucumbers, radishes, potatoes) into small, even pieces.
2. Finely chop the fresh dill and green onions.
3. Place all diced ingredients and chopped herbs into a large bowl or individual serving bowls.
4. Stir in a dollop of sour cream, a small amount of mustard (if using), and season generously with salt and pepper. Mix well.
5. Pour in the chilled bread kvass over the mixture.
6. Mix gently. Serve immediately.

๐ถ A four-hour operation was needed to rescue a dog that fell from a 12th-floor window in Sakhalin, Russia.
According to SHOT, the shepherd fell from the window of a 12th-floor apartment in the "Uyun-Park" residential complex in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The owner was not home at the time, and it seems the dog fell out the window. The boy was badly injured, but landed directly on an air conditioner box on the 11th floor. Concerned locals called rescuers, and they themselves unfurled a tarpaulin below to save the dog in case he fell.
Soon, an emergency services vehicle with a ladder arrived at the building, but according to residents, the ladder was not long enough.
Eventually, they managed to pull the dog into the window near which it was lying. At that moment, joyful shouts from people could be heard on the ground. The dog will now be taken to a veterinary clinic for examination.
