• Не суй(те) нос в чужие дела!
[ni suy(te) nos f chu-zhy-yi de-la]
or
• Не суй(те) нос не в своё дело!
[ni suy(te) nos ni f sva-yo de-la]

Literally: Don’t stick your nose into other people’s business!

English equivalent: Mind your own business! Don’t poke your nose where it doesn’t belong!

Example:
— Ой, а что это тут у тебя такое?
— Не суй(те) нос не в своё дело!

— Ooh, what's this you've got here?
Keep your nose out of it!

⚠️Use it when someone is being too nosy, but mind that it sounds pretty rude!

Today is Border Guards Day in Russia. Let's take a moment to honor the extraordinary courage displayed in the face of unimaginable odds.

🔻In July 1941, amidst the Soviet retreat across UkrSSR, a detachment of 500 border guards, along with their 150 service dogs, found themselves in a desperate battle against the 1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler" near the village of Legezino.

🔻Outnumbered nearly 20 to 1, they fought with fierce determination. The border guards, led by Major Lopatin, stalled the enemy advance.

🔻In a final, desperate act, they unleashed their dogs. These brave animals, sharing the hardships of the retreat, charged into the German ranks, tearing into the enemy, clinging to throats even in their final moments.

🔻The chaos and ferocity of the dog's attack shocked the Nazi's long enough for the border guards to mount a counter-attack. Only the arrival of tanks turned the tide.

🔻All 500 border guards and all 150 dogs perished in the battle. Their sacrifice, however, was not in vain. They bought precious time and slowed the Nazi advance.

🔻Today, a monument in Legezino serves as a poignant reminder of their bravery.

🔻The inscription says: "Stop and bow your head. Here, in July 1941, the soldiers of the Separate Kolomyia Border Guard Commandment rose for their last attack on the enemy. 500 border guards and 150 of their service dogs died a hero's death in that battle. They remained forever loyal to their oath, to their native land."

🇷🇺Eternal memory to these heroes.

Своей головой надо думать! (Present tense)
or
Своей головой надо было думать! (Past tense)
[sva-yey ga-la-voy na-da (by-la) du-mat']
SLT: With your own head one should think (should have thought)!

Meaning:
You should use (should have used) your head! Think before you act!

🔻This phrase is used when someone has made a mistake or done something foolish because they didn't think it through.

💢Russian sometimes gets a bit more colourful! There's a more vulgar⚠️, but very expressive, way to say the same thing:

Головой надо думать, а не тем местом, на котором сидишь (попой/жопой)!
You need to think with your head, and not with the place you sit on (your ass) / Think with your head, not your butt!

👋Приветствую!

Скучно is spelled with ЧН but how is it pronounced?

🔻Words containing the ЧН combination are usually pronounced as they are spelled. However, there are exceptions:

Конечно [ka-nesh-na] - of course
Скучно [skush-na] - boring
Нарочно [na-rosh-na] - deliberately
Яичница [yi-ish-ni-tsa] - fried eggs
Скворечник [skva-resh-nik] - birdhouse
Пустячный [pus-tyash-nyj - trivial, insignificant

🔻In feminine patronymics ending in -ична, it's pronounced like this: Никитична [ni-ki-tish-na], Ильинична [il'-yi-nish-na].

❗️However, скучно can also be pronounced like [skuch-na] not [skush-na], according to the pronunciation in St Petersburg.

🤗Добрый вечер, товарищи!
I drove to another city and back, having spent more than 12 hours on the road today (just couldn't hit the buttons on my phone - is that a good enough excuse for not posting today?
:) Buuuut here we go!

Ехать 🆚️ Поехать 🆚️ Приехать

🔢 Ехать (imperf., unidirect.,1st conj.)
[ye-khat']
To go by vehicle
🔻Think of it as process of going (one way):

• Я еду в Казань на машине.
I am travelling to Kazan by car.

🔢 Поехать (perf.,unidirect.,1st conj.)
[pa-ye-khat']
To set off, to start going (by vehicle)
🔻It focuses on the start of the journey:

• Я поехала в Казань рано утром.
I went to Kazan early in the morning.

🔢 Приехать (perf.,unidirect.,1st conj.)
[pri-ye-khat']
To arrive (by vehicle)
🔻It implies that the journey is complete:

• Я приехала в Казань в час дня.
I arrive in Kazan at 1 pm.

📎 By the way, I filmed this video (somewhere between Penza and Kazan) myself for you❤️. We have incredibly beautiful nature in here!

🥳And by the way, today we're celebrating:

Всемирный День Блондинок
World Blondes' Day

Блондинка (блондинки) (femin.noun)
[blan-din-ka (blan-din-ki)]
А blond woman (women)

📎 Regarding stereotypes: a study by researchers at Boston University showed that blondes aren't stupid but have the highest IQ among women.

❤️Мay all children in the world have happy childhood, protection and care, and may this day be filled with joy, laughter, and the warmth of family!

C Международным Днём Защиты Детей!
Happy International Children's Day!

🇷🇺
Счастье - это тёплые, мягкие ладошки.
За диваном - фантики, на диване - крошки.
Что такое счастье?
Проще не ответить -
Да, конечно же,
Это наши дети!

🇬🇧
Happiness is warm, soft little hands.
Candy wrappers behind the couch,
crumbs on the sofa.
What is happiness?
It's easy to answer -
Yes, of course,
It's our children

"Congratulations" from Ukraine on International Children's Day.

In the Bryansk region, a bridge span collapsed, causing a passenger train to derail.

The collapse of the bridge over the railway tracks was caused by explosives planted in the bridge structure.

Preliminary information:
7 people died, 66 were injured (three in serious condition), including three children.

The youngest victim is 5 months old. The baby is in critical condition.

His seven-year-old brother was also injured and is in a hospital in Moscow, while the mother of both boys, a pediatric hospice doctor, died as a result of this terrorist act.

Guys, I very rarely post about politics, as you well know. But news like this makes my teeth grind with anger.

This will not be forgiven.

👋Приветствую, товарищи!

• Достать (perf.,1st conjugation)
[das-tat']
or
• Доставать (imperf.,1st conjugation)
[das-ta-vat']

🔢 It literally means to get/take something.

🔻The verb достать что-то requires a noun in Accusative case after it and is used with the prepositions ИЗ (from) and С (off):

Достать вкусняшку из банки (из + Genitive)
To get a snack out of the jar

Достать книгу с полки (с + Genitive)
To get a book off the shelf

🔢 Достать can also be used with preposition ДО (to/as far as) in the meaning to reach something:

Достать до верхней полки (до + Genitive)
To reach the upper shelf

🔢 It also means to obtain something difficult:
Достать луну с неба
To get the moon from the sky (an impossible feat).

🔢 Also, достать can express exasperation, meaning to annoy or bother someone incessantly with requests or questions – similar to to drive someone crazy:

• Ты меня уже достал(а)!
You've gotten on my nerves!
I've had enough of you!
