Meaning:
1. A man who leads a life of leisure, often neglecting responsibilities and prioritizing pleasure above all else, like idle, reckless, self-indulgent.

2. А penchant for women, often suggesting a history of multiple relationships and a lack of commitment, like womanizer, Don Juan.

🔻An 1847 dictionary defines related words like:

• Весь [ves']: village, settlement (probably повеса comes from по весям (to walk) around the villages, drinking alcohol and having fun).

Повеса  is also described in old dictionaries as a шалун [sha-lun] a rascal, mischievous person, or ветреник [ve-tri-nik] а fickle person.

🔻Therefore, повеса paints a picture of a lively, perhaps charming, but ultimately irresponsible individual who prioritizes pleasure and romantic pursuits above more serious obligations.
