Located on the picturesque Crimean Peninsula, Tarkhankut is a captivating destination steeped in history and natural beauty.

🔻Its name echoes its ancient Greek heritage, meaning "cape of Tarkhank."

🔻Tarkhankut has witnessed numerous civilizations throughout its past. The Greeks established a colony here in the 5th century BC, leaving behind remnants of their presence, such as the ruins of ancient Kalos Limen.

🔻During the Crimean Khanate period (15th-18th centuries), Tarkhankut became a significant port and trading hub.

🔻In the 18th century, the Russian Empire transformed Tarkhankut into a military outpost. The Cape Tarkhankut Lighthouse, built in 1816, is a notable landmark from this era.

🔻Tarkhankut boasts an array of stunning natural attractions. Its coastline is renowned for its towering cliffs, secluded coves, and azure waters.

🔻Tarkhankut's crystal-clear waters and diverse marine life make it a paradise for scuba divers.

🤔 КусочЕК or кусочИК?

🔻To understand which letter is written in the suffixes -ЕК and -ИК, you need to put the word in the Genitive case - (Чего?) кусочка (a piece of) If the vowel (here after Ч) disappears, then it means that the vowel Е is written in the suffix (-ЕК).

🔻In other cases, the letter И is written in the suffix (-ИК). Чего? ключИка (key)

December 4 is Gift Orders and Writing Letters to Father Frost Day

Every year on December 4, Russia celebrates an unusual holiday – Gift Orders and Writing Letters to Father Frost Day. On this day, those who believe in miracles and eagerly await the New Year can write a wish list and send it directly to Father Frost.

Typically, on this day, post offices start accepting New Year’s letters addressed to Father Frost. Special postal facilities also open for sending letters with wishes and requests. Often, the field "Recipient" is filled with "To Father Frost Personally," written in a child’s handwriting. But that’s no problem—post offices know exactly where to send the letters, ensuring they reach their magical destination.

Father Frost, who resides in Veliky Ustyug, receives more than a million physical and digital letters annually from children across Russia and the CIS countries. By December 1, 2023, he had already received around 6 million letters.

It’s not only children who write to the country's main magical figure; adults who sincerely believe in the New Year’s magic also do so. The first letters arrive as early as November—some people just can’t wait until the official Gift Orders Day.

Anyone can write to Father Frost. Here is the address of the main wizard’s residence:

162390, Russia
Vologda Oblast
Veliky Ustyug
Father Frost's Post Office
