Nestled just outside of St. Petersburg, Pavlovsk Palace and Park offers a tranquil escape from the city's bustle.
🔻This UNESCO World Heritage Site, once the summer residence of Emperor Paul I and his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna, is a breathtaking example of 18th-century Neoclassical architecture.
🔻The golden-white palace, is visible even from distant points in the park and the city. Its three-story central building, crowned with a flat dome, is the earliest in terms of construction and the most exquisite in terms of decoration. It was created by Charles Cameron in the 1780s.
🔻The sprawling park surrounding the palace is a triumph of landscape design. Winding paths lead you through picturesque gardens, enchanting groves, and charming bridges. Look out for the iconic Pavilion of Three Graces, the romantic ruins of the Temple of Friendship, and the serene lake reflecting the beauty of the nature.

• Оглянуться не успеешь
[a-glyi-nu-tsa ni us-pe-ish]
SLT: You won't have time to turn around
🔻This is a Russian idiom meaning "before you know it" or "in the blink of an eye."
🔻It's used to describe something that happens quickly and unexpectedly.
🔻This phrase first appeared in Krylov's fable Стрекоза и Муравей (The Dragonfly and the Ant), where the ant warned the dragonfly about the need to prepare for winter in advance:
• (Стрекоза) Оглянуться не успела, как зима катит в глаза!
[a-glyi-nu-tsa ni us-pe-la, kak zi-ma ka-tit v gla-za]
Before (the Dragonfly) knows it, winter will be upon us!

Doctor's Sausage
🔻In 1935, the Communist Party instructed the All-Union Research Institute of the Meat Industry to develop a sausage recipe for patients with somatic signs of long-term starvation for dietary (therapeutic) nutrition.
🔻The creators initially wanted to call it Stalinist, but decided that the leader might not appreciate it. Therefore, it was decided to name the sausage so to speak by its purpose – "Doctor's sausage."
🔻The recipe for Doctor's sausage according to GOST (Soviet State Standard): for 100 kg of sausage, the following ingredients are used:
☆High-quality beef with veins – 25 kg
☆Semi-fat pork with veins – 70 kg
☆Chicken eggs or egg yolk mix – 3 kg
☆Full-fat or skimmed cow milk powder – 2 kg
☆Spices
🔻In the 1970s and 1990s, due to meat shortages in the country, the quality of sausage declined, but now, on Russian shelves, there is delicious Doctor's sausage.
