👋Доброе утро, товарищи!

🔻You've already learnt the verb ▶️ДАТЬ. Let's look at the possible prefixes:

1⃣ОТдать
[at-dat']
To give back, to return

🔻This verb implies giving something back to someone, or returning it:

Человек, отдай мне моё мясо!
Man, give me back my meat!

2⃣ПЕРЕдать
[pi-ri-dat']
To pass on, to convey

🔻This verb is used when you transfer something from one person to another, often with the intention of communication:

Передай мне это мясо.
Pass me the meat, please.

3⃣НЕДОдать
[ni-da-dat']
Тo undergive, to fail to give enough

🔻This verb indicates that someone has not given enough of something:

• Он недодал коту еды.
He didn't give the cat enough food.

So, "дать" is the most versatile and general verb. "Отдать" implies returning something. "Передать" focuses on transferring something, often with a message. "Недодать" indicates that something was not given in full.

Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin, an outstanding Russian painter

🔻Born in Elabuga on January 13, 1832. From the age of 12 he studied Arts. In 1857 he continued his studies at the Imperial Academy of Arts.

🔻In 1861, he went on a trip abroad and studied for a while in Munich, Zurich, Geneva, and Düsseldorf. There he became acquainted with the works of Benno, F. Adamov, F. Didé, and A. Calam. The trip lasted until 1866. By this time, Shishkin had already been awarded the title of Academician for his work in his homeland.

🔻It is known that the bears were painted not by Shishkin himself, but by his friend, the artist Savitsky, so Shishkin suggested that Savitsky sign the painting.

🔻Shishkin did not like praise and did not seek fame. His main interest was in art.
