🔻This adverb derives from the adjective краткий (short, brief), composed of the prefix В- the root -КРАТЦ- and the suffix -Е. The spelling rule states that adverbs derived from adjectives in the short form, with any prefixes, are written as one word.
• Расскажи вкратце, как прошли выборы президента США.

Nikolai Fomich Pechenenko (born in 1930) met victory in May 1945 in Austria. He returned home with medals. He was only fifteen years old that year.
🔻Several times, the nazis led him out to be executed. They put a noose around his neck, knocked the support out from under his feet, and he... fell to the ground. They laughed and hooted. The fascists amused themselves by cutting the rope – they watched the fear of the child who was ready to die. They poured icy water on the unconscious boy, brought him back to his senses, and then threw him in the basement. Several times the Gestapo "joked" in this way, and in between their amusements, they beat him, drove matches under his nails. After another "execution," Kolya was paralyzed. The partisans saved him: they found him lying in a dugout, blue from beatings, with his teeth knocked out.
🔻After the war he wrote books with a pen held in his teeth, as he had complete paralysis of his limbs.

🔻You've already learnt the verb
[at-dat']
To give back, to return
🔻This verb implies giving something back to someone, or returning it:
• Человек, отдай мне моё мясо!
Man, give me back my meat!
[pi-ri-dat']
To pass on, to convey
🔻This verb is used when you transfer something from one person to another, often with the intention of communication:
• Передай мне это мясо.
Pass me the meat, please.
[ni-da-dat']
Тo undergive, to fail to give enough
🔻This verb indicates that someone has not given enough of something:
• Он недодал коту еды.
He didn't give the cat enough food.
❗So, "дать" is the most versatile and general verb. "Отдать" implies returning something. "Передать" focuses on transferring something, often with a message. "Недодать" indicates that something was not given in full.
