An old Russian joke:
🇷🇺 Проснулась на трезвую голову, встала с той ноги, рассадила по местам тараканов, договорилась с задницей не искать приключений, и сразу ... жизнь потеряла смысл!• На трезвую голову
🇬🇧 Literally: I woke up on sober head, with the right foot, put my cockroaches in their places, made a pact with my butt to not look for adventures, and at once … life lost its meaning!
[na trez-vu-yu go-la-vu]
SLT: On sober head
In the cold light of day, feeling fresh
• Встать не с той ноги
[fstat' ni s toy na-gi]
SLT: To get up with the wrong foot
To get out on the wrong side of the bed
• Иметь тараканов в голове
[i-met' ta-ra-ka-naf v ga-la-ve]
SLT: To have cockroaches in one's head
To have our own little idiosyncrasies
• Искать приключения на свою задницу
[is-kat' prik-lyu-che-ni-ya na sva-yu zad-ni-tsu]
SLT: To look for adventures on one's butt
To be cruising for a bruising

• Не стой над душой!
[ni stoy nad du-shoy]
SLT: Don't stand above (my) soul
Meaning:
Stop watching me working! Don`t hover over me! Stop breathing down my neck!
🔻This colloquial expression is used when someone is trying to do something and feels like they're being watched too closely or when someone feels pressured or rushed.

A Glimpse into Merchant Life: Proskuryakov's Dacha
🔻Built in the late 19th century for the wealthy merchant Ivan Proskuryakov, this captivating country retreat offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of Russia's merchant class.
🔻The dacha's facades are captivating: a pseudo-Russian style structure with graceful turrets, window trims, and balustrades richly adorned with delicate carved details.
🔻After the revolution, the dacha was nationalized. Revolutionary I. Zhukov recuperated here, often visited by his friend, Lenin. Amazingly, in the 1930s, the dacha was returned to the Proskuryakov family, who, in turn, sold it to the TEP (Heat and Power Engineering Project) Trust a few years later.
🔻The dacha survived the Great Patriotic War unscathed.
