👋Всем привет! Breathe in - some more grammar!

Do you remember:
▶️Это эта этот эти (Revision)

Это (demonstrat. neut.)
  [e-ta]

🔻Russians use 'это' to introduce an object 'This is...' or express an opinion about something 'It's good':

Это мой кот.
  This is my сat.

🔻In English 'it' quite often introduces time, temperature or distances,
but 'это' won't be used in these situations in Russian:

На улице тепло
  It is warm outside.

Сейчас 5 (пять) часов.
  [siy-chas pyat' chi-sof]
  It is 5 o'clock now.

От моего дома до магазина - 2 (два) километра.
It is 2 km from my house to the shop.

Mind that in English the pronoun 'it' is used to substitute things, while in Russian the pronouns 'он, она, оно' are used in this meaning:

У меня есть кот. Он очень умный.
I have a cat. It is very smart.
(Кот = masculine).

📎 Это легкотня [likh-kat-nya], правда? It's easy-peasy, isn't?😉

A curious kitten was rescued in Kamchatka after getting its head stuck in a circular saw blade.

🔻The kitten, known for its inquisitive nature, got trapped after sticking its head through the opening, unable to pull it back out.

🔻To free the animal, rescuers used sunflower oil, a stool, and their kind hands.

😉Доброе!

Также 🆚️ Так же

1⃣Также
[tak-ze]
Also, too

🔻'Также' is a conjunction, and we can replace it with 'ещё' (too), the meaning remains the same. 'Также' is used to add information.

2⃣Так же
[tak zhe]
As well, in the same way

It is a combination of an adverb and a particle. Try to replace it with 'таким же образом' (in the same way). If the sentence doesn't lose its meaning, then write it as two separate words.
If you need to make a comparison, use 'так же'.

🔻There's also an additional way to check: simply remove the particle 'же'. If the context doesn't change, then a space is needed.

Example:
Обожаю кошек! Я также люблю собак! А вы любите животных так же, как я?
[a-ba-zha-yu ko-shek. ya tak-zhe lyub-lyu sa-bak. a vy lyu-bi-te zhy-vot-nykh tak zhe kak ya]
🇬🇧 I love cats! I also love dogs! Do you love animals as much as I do?

Are you a cat or a dog lover?

Собачиться (imperf.)
[sa-ba-chi-tsa]
=
Пособачиться (perf.)
[pa-sa-ba-chi-tsa]

'Cобачиться' is a slang verb in Russian meaning to quarrel, to argue, or to bicker. It's a vivid and expressive word that captures the intensity and sometimes even the viciousness of a heated argument.

Origin:
The verb 'Собачиться' comes from the Russian word 'собака' (dog). It's likely that the verb is rooted in the image of dogs fighting and snarling at each other.

Example:
• Хватит собачиться! Мы пришли сюда купаться!
[kha-tit sa-ba-chi-tsa. my prish-li syu-da ku-pa-tsa]
🇬🇧 Stop arguing! We've arrived here to swim!

⚠️ While 'Собачиться' is a common slang term, it's important to use it with caution. It can be considered offensive if used in a formal context or directed at someone in a disrespectful way.

Why were the houses in the Russian North so huge?

🔻All the houses in this video are authentic 19th-century wooden dwellings, discovered in various Vologda villages.

🔻The harsh climate and long winters demanded resilience and a well-organized way of life, so a unique building style combined living quarters and outbuildings under one roof.

🔻Despite the size, these houses were typically intended for one family.

🔻Подклеть the first level of the house, was used for livestock or storage.

🔻The next level поветь was for storing hay or farm implements.

🔻There was a separate entrance to the поветь from the street, but the living part of the house could be accessed by a covered passage, without going outside, which helped to conserve heat.

🔻The inside of the house is familiar: a stove, a living room, a loft, a women's corner and a red corner.

🔻However, there is one characteristic feature: Northern houses were built without a single nail.

👋Всем доброго утра!

🔻How should one say 'different' in Russian?

• Разный
[raz-nyj]

• Другой

[dru-goy]

Both adjectives can be translated as 'different' in English.

But:

1. 'Разный' refers to 'various and diverse' pointing out the variety.

2. 'Другой' means 'another, other, the other' pointing out something else.

Example:
Есть разные коты, но мне другого не надо!
[yest' raz-ny-ye ka-ty no mnye dru-go-va ni na-da]
🇬🇧 There are different cats, but I don’t need another!
