Vowel Ee

🔻Vowel 'E' consists of two sounds [й]+[e] (j+e). The [й] sound makes the previous consonant sound soft 'дe' [д'э]. So this way
'Е' is read when it is stressed.

🔻When 'E' is unstressed, it's usually read like [йи] or ['и].

🔻Consonant sounds [ш], [ж] and [ц], on the contrary, are always hard.

🔻Therefore, in combination with Ш, Ж and Ц, the unstressed vowel E is read not as [и], but as [ы].
