🔻The Church of the Resurrection of Christ, commonly known as the Foros Church, is an architectural monument built in the late 19th century in the village of Foros in Crimea.

🔻It was built by the Russian philanthropist and merchant, Alexander Polovtsev, in memory of his wife, Ekaterina, who died at sea near the village.

🔻The church is known for its unique Byzantine Revival architecture, with its dome and bell tower standing out prominently against the background of the dramatic landscape of the Crimean coast.

👋Здравствуйте, товарищи!

1⃣ Здесь (formal)
      [zdes']
      Here

🔻"Здесь" is the most formal and neutral option:

• Я живу здесь.
   [ya zhyvy zdes']
   I live here.

2⃣  Тут (informal)
       [tut]
       Here

🔻"Тут" is more informal and casual:

Посмотри на меня, хозяин, я тут!
  [pas-mat-ri na mi-nya kha-zya-in ya tut]
Look at me, master, I'm here!

3⃣ Там
       [tam]
      There

🔻"Там" refers to a place that is further away from the speaker.

💢 You can come across a humorous Russian phrase:

Здесь вам не тут!
  [zdes' vam ni tut]
SLT: Here isn't not there for you!

🔻It was uttered by former Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin. With this phrase he warned a journalist against impolite behaviour. The phrase had no sense and thus became popular.

Вулкан Вилюченский
  [vyl-kan vi-lyu-chen-skiy]

🔻It's a stratovolcano, also known as a composite volcano.  This means it's a tall, conical volcano built up by layers of lava flows, tephra, and volcanic ash.

🔻The name "Vilyuchinsky" comes from the word "vilyu" in the language of the Itelmen people, the indigenous people of the Kamchatka Peninsula. "Vilyu" translates to "big," which is appropriate given the volcano's height.

🔻The volcano is a popular destination for hiking and ski touring. The slopes are relatively gentle and offer stunning views of the surrounding area.

🌝Всем доброго утра!

What do the words “напёрсток”, “перстень”, “перчатки” have in common? Why?

Напёрсток
[na-pyor-stak]
Thimble

Перстень
[per-styen']
Finger ring

Перчатки
[pir-chat-ki]
Gloves

🗝
We put all these things on our fingers. In the old days, а finger was called “перст”, and the fingers were called “персты”. But besides this, they have a common root “перст” or “перч”.

🔻"Самое то" is a common Russian phrase meaning "just right", "exactly what is needed" or "perfect".

🔻Regardless of gender of the word to which it refers, this phrase is unchangeable and used to describe something that is exactly what you need or want, often in an informal context.

Synonyms:

  [to, shto dok-tar pra-pi-sal]
  Just what the doctor ordered.

• то, что надо
  [ to shto na-do]
=
• то, что нужно
  [to shto nuzh-na]
  Exactly what I need

Example:
Такой дом для кота - самое то в жару.
[ta-koy dom dlya ka-ta - sa-ma-ye to v zha-ru]
🇬🇧 Such a house for a cat is just right in the heat.

А для вас что самое то в жару?
