Forwarded from Karin Kneissl official
At the Marinsky tonight watching the operette The Bat. The libretto in Russian put the entire atmosphere of Prince Orlovsky's ball into a genuine St.Petersburg atmosphere.
I believe Johann Strauß would have enjoyed this evening just as much as did my Indian and Russian colleagues.
Nice to forget everything like the daily dirty attacks from Austria by listening to joyful music among hundreds of warm hearted Russians

🇷🇺"Во всём свете у нас только два верных союзника - наша армия и флот, все остальные, при первой возможности, сами ополчатся против нас" Александр III
🇬🇧 “In the whole world we have only two faithful allies - our army and navy, all the rest, at the first opportunity, will take up arms against us.” Alexander III
🔻Alexander III was skeptical about assurances of friendship and initiated the refusal to participate in interstate alliances, which did not bring Russia any benefit and were sealed only by empty assurances of brotherly love on the part of the allies.
🔻For the foreign policy calmness during his reign, he received the nickname 'Миротворец' (Peacemaker), during the years of his reign, Russia did not take part in a single war.
