Свадебные традиции
[sva-dib-ny-ye tra-di-tsy-i]
Wedding traditions

🔻 In Russia weddings are usually not held during church fasts and in May (so it is believed that those getting married will 'suffer' 'МАЯться' in marriage).

🔻 In many countries, the bride and groom shouldn't meet before the ceremony. However, in Russia, the groom must first arrive at the bride’s house, and then they go to the wedding together.

🔻The bridesmaids won’t let the groom into the house until he proves his love with money and the right answers to the bridesmaids’ questions! This is called 'Выкуп невесты' (Redemption or purchase of the bride).

🔻The bridgesmaides will ask questions like “What is her favourite book?” and ask the groom for money.

🔻To formalize a marriage in Russia, you have to have a civil ceremony at the ЗАГС (Civil Registry Office), which is the official marriage registration authority in Russia.

🔢🔢🔢 Личные местоимения (дательный падеж) / Personal pronouns (dative case):

🔻In Russian, the dative case is used for indicating the indirect object of an action (that to which something is given, thrown, read).

1. (Я ->) Мне [mnye] me

2. (Ты ->) Тебе [ti-bye] you (informal).

3. (Он ->) Ему/Нему [yi-mu/ni-mu] him (masc.)

4. (Оно ->) Ему/Нему [yi-mu/ni-mu] it (neut.)

5. (Она ->) Ей/Ней [yey/ney] her (femin.)

6. (Мы ->) Нам [nam] us

7. (Вы ->) Вам [vam] you (formal / plural)

8. (Они ->) Им/Ним [im/nim] them

🔻Тhe version starting with 'Н...' (нему, ней, ним) goes after prepositions (к/ко, по and etc): Я скучаю ПО Нему. (I miss him).

Examples:

Ей можно гулять по льду!
  It (she) is allowed to walk on the ice!

Мне это нравится!
  I like it!

Дайте нам молоко, пожалуйста!
  Give us some milk, please!

Я могу тебе помочь.
  I can help you.

Остров Итуруп
  [ ost-raf i-tu-rup]

🔻Iturup is an island in the Kuril Archipelago separating the Sea of Okhotsk from the North Pacific Ocean.

🔻In 1786, the Kuril Islands were declared Russian territory. In 1855, under the terms of the Shimoda Treaty, the Southern Kuril Islands - Iturup, Kunashir, Shikotan and the Habomai group of islands - were ceded to Japan, and in 1875 - under the terms of the St. Petersburg Treaty - Japan received the entire Kuril ridge in exchange for South Sakhalin.

🔻In 1945, all the islands finally became part of the USSR. The ownership of the Southern Kuril Islands is still desperately and vainly disputed by the Japanese side.

📍Geoposition: The Kuril Islands, Russia 🇷🇺
