Now I know why he didn’t want to defend Sam

Just been to my grandma’s house and she put some cartoons on the TV for my daughter to watch and I immediately heard the first show say, “You have to go show Dad and Papa!”

I thought, wtf… so I watched, and “Dad” is the girl’s father and “Papa” is his gay, black husband. Honestly, keep your kids away from TV and only let them watch things you’ve checked yourself.

Who’d have thought that the Eurovision Song Contest would highlight pretty much every single person and group that you can’t trust in British politics?

Well you get to be British if you play cricket and eat Walkers crisps so I don’t see why not

Both appeals just quietly closed without a response. No emails sent to me. Accounts still suspended.

I’m back in regular contact with Sam after his move to HMP Hull. It took a few days to sort his phone credit and contacts out. He was a bit pissed off when he first moved as he had a full time job at Leeds so the days were passing quite fast for him and now he’s back in his cell for 22 hours a day. However, he’s now applied for a few jobs at Hull and hopefully he’ll get one of those.

In general, he says Hull is a better prison than Leeds. The food is nicer, the visiting sessions are for two hours instead of one hour and they run family days which are full day sessions where the inmates are allowed to spend the day with their children. They did these at Leeds too but they were only for two hours.

At the moment, Sam is on the induction wing. This is where inmates go for the first couple of weeks until they get their permanent wing. He says the atmosphere is a bit tense as sexual offenders (including child abusers) also go on that wing when they first arrive. He said nobody wants to talk to anybody because nobody wants to talk to a nonce. Once they get given their permanent wing, the sexual offenders are by themselves so I imagine it’ll be better then. Sam is currently sharing a cell with a young lad who’s in there for credit card fraud and they are getting on well.

Btw, the postage to the US currently says £9.40. I think it should be less than that because they can be sent as a large letter rather than a parcel. When I speak with Sam tonight, I’ll ask him how I fix this. It should be about £4 postage to the US.

I've fixed this now so the shipping to the USA is £3.80, instead of £9.40 which it previously said.

I know some petitions are a bit lame and we feel the government are never going to care so why bother, but there’s a very important reason for signing this one. Sam’s probation team (who are responsible for his release) have told him they’ve seen the public’s response to his sentence. If we can get a few thousand signatures on this (and we’ve already reached 1000 very quickly) it could help strengthen the case that there is public pushback to his sentence.

I know it’s a big ask, but please ask your friends and family members to sign it too, and share it on social media if you feel you can. We all miss Sam like mad and want to get him home as soon as possible.
