Feel sort of torn on the Trump tariffs. On the one hand, I think they make no sense as economic policy and will leave everyone poorer.
I don't buy the libertarian free trade arguments, but the US industrial base has been gutted for decades now, and only years of industrial planning and capital investment in tandem with tariffs would actually achieve what Trump wants. People pointing to other golden ages of American nationalist economic prosperity seem to be missing this. And that's just putting aside the utterly incoherent way the tariff rates have been decided.
On the other hand, Trump is probably single-handedly destroying the global free trade order America itself spearheaded since WW2, which is going to seriously throw a wrench in the establishment political order across the West. This is Trump's Bane moment.

This week I visited Alum Rock, an area of Brimingham where just 6.4% of residents are White. This makes it the most non-White region in the UK, and probably anywhere in Europe. This is some of the footage I recorded.
City councils are struggling financially in British cities, and there is now a dispute with bin workers that has left over 17,000 tonnes of rubbish on the streets of Birmingham.
Alum Rock has become one of the dirtiest areas of the whole city, with reports of "cat sized rats" roaming the streets. I don't think I heard English spoken anywhere on the street. Multiple flags were displayed, but nothing related to Britain. I only saw a couple of White people on a 20 minute walk through Alum Road. The majority group here is Pakistani.
Birmingham was once known as "the workshop of the world", a city that birthed the industrial revolution. These kinds of racial enclaves are the norm in its inner city now. This is the reality of multiculturalism.

Apparently "the art of the deal" is promising big action then almost immediately walking it back with no concessions achieved. There is just no way this was ever the plan.
It is becoming pointless to listen to Trump partisans on anything. A few hours ago, the stock market crashing was a well deserved punishment to Boomers and the tariffs were part of a great strategy of reindustrialisation. Now, this was really all about punishing China. But what has actually been achieved? No one can say.
And for this stunt, the US is left with a spike in mortgage rates, a world rushing to de-dollarisation, and 90 days more of uncertainty around the promised tariffs. Rather than creating leverage for the US as part of a "deal", the bond market crash followed by the near-instant walk back has only shown how vulnerable the US is to attempting a trade war of this scale.
