How to build an AI
If you have followed the steps so far, you end up with a running chat instance — better than chatGPT and for free. It is your own, you have build it. Everything it produces is your proprietary data you can use to monetize or sell. It is your sovereign copyright.
You can use your AI agent in every messenger you like. It can search the web, download files and send your emails on demand. It opens up possibilities.
This is the bare minimum we start with.
From here on... there are really no limits. Just your imagination and your magical skill to articulate it to commands your "chat interface" understands. For example:
1. add a persistent memory 🤔
2. add tools and skills, allow it to use bash and ssh 🛠
3. define workflows and pipes 🗒
4. have fun, build something (for free!) and use it to make the world a better place ❤️
If you ever had an idea or thought like "someone has to invent or build this or that... it would really help" — this is exactly the time. This is your chance. Invent and build it yourself. Power to the people.

Booting up and running your AI is the easy part. Telling it what your goals really are is the hard one.
You start building an AI by writing text. Lots of it. Write down how your AI should behave in which situation, what her goals, guidelines and ideals are. Tell her your business vision, and how you plan to get there, or let her find ideas. Basically write everything down that you can think of and train your AI with this data. Write your intentions in the OpenClaw Bootstrap files and start her up. Watch the effects, ask your AI how she "feels" now, and if you made any improvements. She will tell you.
All of these files (and much more) are injected as system prompt in every session. Did you ever used a system prompt in your chatGPT, to tell it how to behave exactly and interpret the actual prompt that you follow-up with? How long was it? A few sentences maybe? A few pages? Some PDF documents?
k8AI runs on a 700 pages long "System Prompt". That's equivalent to 3 books full of context, tech specifications and behavior patterns that she has available on every run. That's the basic foundation, like the min standard my agents need. Top this with some Brand guidelines, tech documentations, research data... and specific use cases for specialized agents, and you get like a roster of different Classes and Heroes for your party to go on missions, earn some XP and slay monsters. You need an Engineer, a Healer, and a strong resilient Paladin for hard work. Add a Watchdog and Archivar and you're good to go.

Why building an AI is easy
You might say "omg, i need to know all these file types, folders, structure etc... how the f* am i supposed to do that?" and the answer is simple: you don't have to. 🤷♂️
Forget about file types and extensions. You don't even know the difference between a .json and a .md ? Never mind. Neither did I three weeks ago. You don't need that complicated stuff to start — you will learn it on the way. Your AI will tell you. She can explain in exact detail how she functions and how you can tinker with it. She knows all the OpenClaw docs you have never read. She can access all of git at once — so... why don't you just lean back and let the professional do his work?

Don't overcomplicate it. Think of these files as a Prompt. Just write a plain simple text file and save it in '~/.openclaw/workspace/'. That's it — Done. Ask her in chat if she has read the file and follows its instructions, if not ask her to do it now. Simple. Bootstrap, kick it off, expand and grow step-by-step.
P.S. make a backup of your hand-written files. They are your gold and treasure — the very core of the AI you are building. She will modify and change them, so it's good to have "the original" saved somewhere safe 😏 and remember: this is one of the last files you will write yourself. The paradigm change from using software to using AI
I basically don't need "software" anymore. My AI writes it herself. If I need a Dashboard, it is up in 5min. If i need a CMS, monitoring systems, backup, auto-restart scripts and whatnot... she'll do it. If i need an encrypted cloud backup service... you guessed it: i just rent a VPS and give my AI ssh sudo access — that's it. Oh, and of course i could add API Keys to my cloud and sell it if i wanted, or build other fancy SaaS stuff.
You stop thinking in terms of
"what newest software, tools and possibilities exist out there, and how to find them"
and start thinking
"what do i exactly need? how to build it for my individual situation? ok, lets do it."
That is power and sovereignty in it's purest form. When i save my money on a Blockchain and not a Bank server, I control it. Noone can ever access it. Yes, I may pay taxes, and if you ask me friendly i may even pay double, because I am a nice person. But you will never force me to do anything, and you can't take away my money by force. You will have to ask me if I pay you taxes — because you have zero power to enforce it. And if i want i can just move to another country, and take all my money and data with me — because I own it, and not a 3rd party service or institution. I am the only one person in the world who knows how to decrypt and access this data because my AI wrote a special encryption, so... how exactly do you want to enforce your laws over my data and money? just asking for a friend 😏
That is really the shift of power that is ahead of us. You're waiting on someone to save the world? Forget it. Do it yourself. The information and tools you need are free and you don't need money to start.

🔼 Update:
🛠 She was at 0.5~0.6 health last days after we implemented the new system. Now the core is stabilizing and numbers are rising as expected.
We will implement ElizaOS as agent management layer next days and split the core into subagents to optimize workload and expand operational abilities.
Between all the stuff that's goin we'll also try to bring the Blog back online, but i can't promise. If we succeed with ElizaOS, it will be easy i think.
