These rules aim to regulate dollar outflows while keeping things manageable for travelers, retirees, and others.This is for travelers getting foreign currency (dollars).
New Monthly Limits for International Bank Card Use:
🚩Retirees: $10,000 (or equivalent in other currencies).
🚩Travel: $20,000 (covers airfare, hotels, car rentals, etc.).
🚩Medical Treatment Abroad: $50,000.
🚩General Use Outside Iraq: $5,000.
🚩Merchant Bank Cards: Max limit of $20,000 per month for international use.
Other Key Details: April 8th
Activation Delay: New cards (debit, credit, prepaid) for international use won’t work abroad until 30 days after issuance.
Prepaid Cards: Current limits for prepaid cards issued by banks or payment services remain unchanged.
Merchant Category Codes (MCC): The CBI will provide a list of approved merchant categories for these transactions later.
The bank explained that it will later provide the relevant authorities with the merchant category codes (MCC codes) associated with these regulations, while the current ceilings for prepaid cards issued by banks or payment service providers will remain in effect.
