2023 = one for the books: officially one of the safest years to fly. ✅
No passenger-jet fatalities were recorded in 2023 (there was a separate, tragic turboprop accident). Modern training, tech and procedures keep getting better — and it shows.

Fly safe, fly curious — and enjoy the view. 👨‍✈️🌤️

🎓 Two similar words, two different jobs:
economic = about the economy or finances;
economical = saving resources (usually money or fuel).
Think: economic = big-picture money stuff; economical = low fuel burn, low cost to run.
Quick examples:
• Economic growth in aviation means more routes and passengers.
• An economical airplane uses less fuel per passenger-mile.

economic (экономический) — про экономику, финансы;

Which one are you today — thinking like an economist or flying fuel-efficient? 😎

A true aviator always stays down-to-earth! 😄✈️
Being a pilot is all about balance — your head’s in the clouds, but you’ve got to stay down-to-earth! 🌍✈️
This idiom means being realistic, humble, and practical — no matter how high you fly.

So next time someone says you’re down-to-earth, just smile and say: “Thanks, I always prefer a smooth landing!” 😎🛬

🇧🇷 Meet Alberto Santos Dumont — Brazil’s own aviation legend who made Paris look up!
Born in Minas Gerais, Brazil, this brilliant inventor grew up fascinated by machines and the idea of flying. At 18, he moved to Paris — the aviation capital of the early 1900s — and soon became a true celebrity of the skies.

In 1901, he famously circled the Eiffel Tower in under 30 minutes — and then shared his prize money with his workers and even local beggars. A gentleman pilot, right?
Then in 1906, his 14-BIS aircraft took off entirely under its own power, no catapult needed. While the Wright Brothers might have flown earlier, it was Santos Dumont who brought aviation into the public eye — stylishly, joyfully, and proudly as a Brazilian pioneer.

☀️ Moral of the story: Sometimes, it’s not just who flies first — it’s how you make the world fall in love with flying.

✈️ Ever wondered how airplane tires survive those brutal landings?
Each one takes the hit at around 170 mph and carries the weight of a small building — up to 38 tonnes! And they do it again and again… over 500 times before needing a change.

So next time you touch down smoothly, give a little mental applause to the real heroes under the wings — those tough rubber legends keeping us safe at every arrival.

🙌 Keep your landings soft and your tires tough 🛞✈️

✈️ Only in Alaska — where your “parking spot” might just be a runway!
This pilot finishes lunch, hops into his plane, and casually takes off… from the road. Who needs valet when you’ve got wings? 🛫

✈️ Attend or assist? Quick JetSpeak tip!
Sentence: I had to attend / assist an interview before the company offered me a job.
➡️ attend = be present — you attend an interview by showing up.
➡️ assist = help someone — you assist if you’re helping (notes, papers, support).

I had to attend / assist an interview before the company offered me a job.

Think: you attend the show; you assist the crew.

Keep your English on the runway! ✈️

✈️ Did you know the world’s busiest flight isn’t NYC–LON but Seoul ⇄ Jeju?
Over 200 flights a day on a short ~1-hour hop — basically a sky shuttle to paradise.
Why it’s wild: this tiny domestic route moves more people annually than many international routes. Jeju’s popularity turns the sky into a commuter highway — nonstop takeoffs and landings, all day long. 🛫🏝️🔥

Next time you’re stuck in traffic, remember — some travelers just fly over it. ✈️

🛫 HOW TALL ARE THE 737 MAX 8 WINGLETS?
Ever looked out the window and noticed those sleek, curved tips on the wings? On the Boeing 737 MAX 8, those are called Split Scimitar Winglets, and they’re not just for show — they rise a whopping 2.90 meters (9.51 feet) high!
Almost three meters of aerodynamic style and efficiency — not just good-looking, but fuel-saving, too.

BOEING 737 MAX 8?

Next time you fly a MAX 8 — give that winglet a salute from your seat! 😉

✈️ OFFICE vs PLANE
Office chairs turn us into disappointed pretzels, but airplane seats mysteriously force us to sit like proper humans. Who knew paying for a ticket would include a posture upgrade?

Final call: blame your keyboard — thank the seatbelt. 😉

🧠 BRING UP vs GROW UP — WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
A quick English tip for my fellow aviators!
✈️ To bring up someone means to raise them — like parents teaching their child how to taxi through life.
👶 To grow up means to become an adult — the child is doing the growing!
🗣 Example:
He was brought up in Tunisia by a Sicilian mother. ✅
You can’t say “He was grown up by…” ❌

🧠 BRING UP и GROW UP — В ЧЁМ РАЗНИЦА?

So remember: parents bring up — children grow up! 😉

Hey everyone! ✈️ Today we’ve got a classic bit of 90s comedy from In Living Color — and yes, it’s Jim Carrey in full throttle mode!
In this sketch, he’s onboard an airplane trying to make a young passenger’s dream of becoming a pilot come true… but let’s just say things don’t exactly go by the book. 😂
It’s over-the-top, unpredictable, and pure Jim Carrey energy — a perfect reminder of how wild 90s TV could get!

“Full throttle — all the way!”

The unforgettable moment from Airport (1970) when Joe Patroni takes charge of the Boeing 707 stuck in snow. While the pilots hesitate, the mechanic who knows every inch of the plane steps in — and delivers one of cinema’s boldest aviation moments.
A true classic that shows confidence, grit, and humor — long before modern CGI. A must-watch for aviation fans and lovers of old Hollywood.
