The dream of living much longer has always fascinated humanity. Today, this idea is no longer only a fantasy: scientists are studying the biological mechanisms of ageing and searching for ways to slow them down.

Recently, a Chinese biotechnology company, Lonvi Biosciences, attracted global attention by claiming that its experimental anti-aging pill could one day help humans live up to 150 years. The company says the treatment focuses on removing harmful senescent cells, often called “zombie cells.”

Senescent cells are old or damaged cells that stop dividing but do not disappear from the body. Instead, they can release inflammatory chemicals that may harm nearby healthy tissues. Over time, their accumulation is believed to contribute to ageing and age-related diseases such as heart disease, arthritis and neurodegenerative disorders.

According to the company, the new pill uses compounds derived from grape-seed extract to help clear these cells. This approach belongs to a growing field known as senolytics — therapies designed to selectively remove senescent cells. Early laboratory and animal studies suggest that reducing these cells may improve tissue health, support physical function and delay some signs of age-related decline.

However, experts urge caution. Promising results in animals do not automatically mean the same effect will occur safely in humans. Any serious anti-aging treatment must pass rigorous clinical trials before it can be considered effective or safe for public use.

Longevity research is advancing quickly thanks to progress in genetics, biotechnology and cellular biology. Many scientists now believe that ageing may eventually be treated as a biological process that can be slowed, rather than simply accepted as inevitable.

For now, the most reliable tools for healthy ageing remain much simpler: regular exercise, balanced nutrition, good sleep and proper management of chronic conditions. Living to 150 may still belong to the future, but modern science is bringing us closer to understanding why we age — and how we might age better.
