The Arctic serves as an early warning system, while the Himalayas are the water tower of the world; ignoring one threatens the stability of the other. Rapidly melting ice due to global warming is a clear sign of an impending climate catastrophe.

In 2022 India under leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji adopted its own Arctic Policy with six objectives scientific research and cooperation, climate and environmental protection, economic and human development, transport and connectivity, governance and international collaboration and national capacity building in the Arctic.

India believes in utilization rather than exploitation of the natural resources of Arctic.

I proposed the world must consider establishing a Himalayan-Arctic Parliamentarian Task Force, involving stakeholders and grassroots communities, to safeguard both the Arctic and the Himalayas. @ORGrimsson @orfonline
