Sahl ibn ‘Abdullāh al-Tustarī (رحمه الله) said:

ما أحدثَ أحدٌ في العلم شيئاً إلاَّ سُئِل عنه يوم القيامة؛ فإنْ وافقَ السُّنَّة سَلِمَ و إلا فهو العطب

“Whoever introduces anything into knowledge will be questioned about it on the Day of Resurrection; if it conforms to the Sunnah, he is safe, otherwise it leads to ruin.”
