سبط رسول اللہ ﷺ، ریحانۃ الرسول ﷺ، سلطان کربلا، سید الشہداء، امام عالی مقام، حضرت ابو عبد اللہ سیدنا امام حسین بن علی المرتضی رضی اللہ عنہما کی ولادت باسعادت 5 شعبان المعظم 4ھ کو مدینہ منورہ میں ہوئی۔ حضور پرنور سید عالم نور ﷺ نے آپ کا نام ’’حسین‘‘ رکھا اور آپ کو اپنا بیٹا فرمایا۔ آپ نواسۂ رسول، نور عین فاطمہ بتول، جگر گوشۂ علی المرتضی اور پیکر صبر و رضا تھے۔ آپ عبادت، زہد، سخاوت، شجاعت، شرم و حیا اور اخلاق کے اعلی درجے پر فائز تھے۔ کثرت سے نمازیں پڑھتے یہاں تک کہ دن اور رات میں ہزار رکعت نوافل ادا فرمايا كرتے، روزے رکھتے، حج کرتے، صدقہ و خیرات کرتے اور تمام بھلائی کے کاموں میں پیش پیش رہتے۔ مروی ہے کہ آپ نے 25 حج پیدل کیے۔ آپ نے راہ حق میں سب کچھ لٹا دیا لیکن باطل کے سامنے سر نہ جھکایا اور 10 محرم الحرام 61ھ کو کربلائے معلی، کوفہ، عراق میں جام شہادت نوش فرمایا۔ بوقت شہادت عمر مبارک 56 سال پانچ ماہ پانچ دن تھى۔ یقیناً یہ آپ کی قربانیوں کا نتیجہ ہے کہ آج اسلام زندہ ہے۔ (اسد الغابة، معجم الصحابة، تاریخ دمشق، سیر اعلام النبلاء)

Sultan of Karbala, Leader of Martyrs, Exalted Imam, Abu Abdullah Sayyiduna Imam Husayn bin Ali al-Murtada (RadiyaAllahu Anhuma) was born on 5 Sha’ban 4 AH in Madinah Munawwarah. The beloved Prophet ﷺ named him ‘‘Husayn’’ and called him his son. He was the grandson of the beloved Prophet, Coolness of the eyes of Sayyidah Fatimah Batool and Mawla Ali al-Murtada, and an epitome of patience and contentment. He possessed a great degree of devotion, asceticism, generosity, courage, modesty, and morality. He would offer prayers frequently to the extent that he would perform a thousand rak’ats of Nawafil in a day and night; observe fasts, give alms, and be at the forefront of all good deeds. It is narrated that he performed Hajj 25 times on foot. He laid down everything in the path of truth but did not bow before falsehood, and was martyred on 10th Muharram, 61 AH, in Karbala, Kufa, Iraq. He was 56 years, 5 months, and 5 days old at his martyrdom. It is indeed the result of his sacrifices that Islam is alive today.
