جامع القرآن، کامل الحیاء والایمان، ذوالنورین، امیر المؤمنین، سیدنا و مولانا ابو عمرو عثمان بن عفان اموی قرشی رضی الله تعالی عنہ وارضاہ خلفائے راشدین میں تیسرے خلیفہ اور اسلام قبول کرنے والوں میں چوتھے خوش نصیب ہیں۔ عشقِ رسول ﷺ کی مٹھاس آپ کی رگ رگ میں اس قدر سما چکی تھی کہ پیارے آقا و مولا ﷺ سے بڑھ کر آپ کو کچھ بھی عزیز نہ تھا؛ آپ ہمیشہ روزہ رکھتے اور ابتدائی رات میں کچھ آرام کر کے پھر ساری رات عبادت میں گزارتے؛ دو مرتبہ راہِ خدا میں ہجرت کا شرف حاصل کیا؛ اور آپ کو یہ شرف بھی حاصل ہوا کہ رسول کریم علیہ افضل الصلاۃ واکمل التسلیم کی دو شہزادیاں یکے بعد دیگرے آپ کے نکاح میں آئیں۔ نہایت ظلم و ستم سہنے کے بعد 18 ذوالحجہ 35ھ بروز جمعہ بحالت روزہ تلاوت قرآن پاک کرتے جام شہادت نوش فرمایا۔ سیدنا زبیر بن العوام یا سیدنا جبیر بن مطعم رضی الله عنہما نے نمازِ جنازہ پڑھائی اور جنت البقیع میں آرام فرما ہوئے۔ (اسد الغابہ، الاصابہ، تھذیب الاسماء)

The gatherer of Quran, Accomplished in modesty and Iman, Possessor of two Noors, Leader of the Believers, Sayyiduna Abu Amr Usman bin Affan Umawi Qurashi (RadiyAllahu Anhu wa Ardaah) is the third caliph among the rightly guided caliphs and the fourth among those fortunate people who accepted Islam. The sweetness of the love of the beloved Prophet ﷺ had embedded into his veins to such an extent that there was nothing more beloved to him than the beloved Prophet ﷺ; he would always fast in the day, rest a little in the early part of the night and then spend the entire night in worship; he had the honor of migrating twice in the path of Allah Almighty, and he also has the honor that two of the blessed daughters of the Noble Prophet ﷺ were given in marriage to him one after the other. After being cruelly attacked, he embraced martyrdom at the age of around 82 on Friday, 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah 35 AH, in the state of fasting while reciting the Holy Quran. Sayyiduna Zubair bin al-Awwam or Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut’im (RadiyAllahu Anhuma) led his funeral prayer and was laid to rest in the blessed Jannat al-Baqi’.
