صاحب معاجم ثلاثہ، محدث اسلام، حافظ الحدیث، ابو القاسم سلیمان بن احمد طبرانی حنبلی رحمۃ اللہ تعالی علیہ کی ولادت فلسطین کے شہر عکا نزد طبریہ میں صفر المظفر 260ھ میں ہوئی۔ طلب علم کے لیے آپ نے حرمین طیبین، شام، یمن، مصر، بغداد، کوفہ، بصرہ، اور اصبہان وغیرہ کے اسفار کیے، ایک ہزار سے زائد محدثین کرام سے استفادہ کیا، تین لاکھ حدیثیں روایت فرمائیں، لاکھوں احادیث حفظ فرمائیں، اور بحیثیت محدث اصبہان میں 60 سال قیام فرمایا۔ آپ کی تمام تصانیف میں معاجم ثلاثہ (معجم کبیر، اوسط، صغیر) آپ کی وجہ شہرت ہیں۔ منقول ہے کہ دشمنان دین نے آخری عمر میں آپ پر جادو کروا دیا جس سے آپ بینائی سے محروم ہو گئے اور 27 یا 28 ذو القعدہ 360ھ میں تقریباً سو سال اور دس ماہ کی طویل عمر پا کر وصال فرمایا۔ آپ کی نماز جنازہ امام ابو نعیم اصبہانی علیہ الرحمہ نے پڑھائی اور اصبہان میں صحابیٔ رسول حممۃ الدوسی رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ کے پہلو میں آرام فرما ہوئے۔ (تذکرۃ الحفاظ، سیر اعلام النبلاء، طبقات الحنابلہ، محدثین عظام حیات و خدمات)

Muhaddith of Islam, Hafiz al-Hadith, Abu al-Qasim Sulayman bin Ahmad Tabarani Hanbali (Alayhir Rahmah) was born in the city of Palestine named Akka near Tabariya in Safar 260 AH. In order to quench his thirst for gaining religious knowledge, he traveled to Haramayn Tayyibayn, Syria, Yemen, Egypt, Baghdad, Kufa, Basra, Isfahan, etc. He learned from more than 1000 hadith masters, narrated 300,000 Ahadith, memorized hundreds of thousands of sacred traditions, and stayed in Isfahan as a Muhaddith for 60 years. Out of all his books, Ma’ajim-e-Salasah (Mu’jam Kabir, Awsat, and Saghir) are the reason for his prominence. It is narrated that the enemies of Islam cast a magic spell upon him in his last days. Due to it, he lost his eyesight and passed away on 27th or 28th Dhu al-Qa’dah 360 AH at the age of 100 years and 10 months. His funeral prayer was led by Imam Abu Nu’aym Isfahani (Alayhir Rahmah) and was laid to rest beside the companion of the beloved Prophet ﷺ, Sayyiduna Humamah ad-Dawsi RadiyAllahu Anhu.
